This is Hollyweird: New Neil Armstrong movie omits planting of US flag

Attempting to re-write history.

Chuck Yeager does not agree with this progressive take on Armstrong.

From Yahoo: The new Neil Armstrong biopic has not yet debuted in American theaters, but it’s already causing controversy.

First Man,” starring Ryan Gosling, has been called out by critics who noticed during a screening at the Venice Film Festival Wednesday that the film fails to portray the iconic moment when Armstrong and fellow astronaut Buzz Aldrin planted the American flag on the moon.

The flag-raising was meticulously planned by NASA because there’s no wind on the moon and a rod was inserted to create the illusion that the flag was fluttering.

Planting the American flag on the moon was controversial back in 1969, as no nation is permitted to claim territory in outer space. There was talk of a United Nations flag being used instead, but it was ultimately decided to use the stars and stripes to serve as a proud symbol of American achievement.

Gosling was later asked why the flag wasn’t shown in the movie during a press conference that followed the screening.

“This was widely regarded in the end as a human achievement and that’s how we chose to view it,” he said. “I don’t think that Neil viewed himself as an American hero. From my interviews with his family and people that knew him, it was quite the opposite. And we wanted the film to reflect Neil.”

Gosling added that he believed Armstrong was extremely modest, considering his achievement.

“I also think Neil was extremely humble, as were many of these astronauts, and time and time again he deferred the focus from himself to the 400,000 people who made the mission possible,” he said.

According to Business Insider, Gosling also said: “The magic moment the American flag was posted was intentionally omitted from the big screen because Armstrong’s achievement “transcended countries and borders.”

Another Hollyweird movie I won’t be seeing.

Dashcam footage of America’s Moon landing

Last Monday, July 22, was the 44th anniversary of America’s Apollo 11 mission’s historic landing on the Moon.

Here’s dashcam footage from the lunar rover.

I don’t know why Bloomberg reporter Adam Johnson keeps referring to Apollo 16, instead of Apollo 11. Apollo 16 was the 10th manned mission in the U. S. Apollo space program; the 5th and penultimate to land on the Moon; and the first to land in the lunar highlands.

Wiki says Apollo 11’s  Lunar Module LM-5 weighed 33,278 lb.

How sad that Obama the POS has drastically cut the budget of NASA. From Wiki:

NASA’s budget has generally been approximately 1% of the federal budget from the early 1970s on, but briefly peaked to approximately 3.3% in 1966 during the Apollo program. Recent public perception of the NASA budget has been shown to be significantly different from reality; a 1997 poll indicated that Americans responded on average that 20% of the federal budget went to NASA.

The percentage of federal budget that NASA has been allocated has been steadily dropping since the Apollo program and as of 2012 the NASA budget is estimated to be 0.48% of the federal budget. In a March 2012 meeting of the United States Senate Science Committee, Neil deGrasse Tyson testified that “Right now, NASA’s annual budget is half a penny on your tax dollar. For twice that—a penny on a dollar—we can transform the country from a sullen, dispirited nation, weary of economic struggle, to one where it has reclaimed its 20th century birthright to dream of tomorrow.” Inspired by Tyson’s advocacy and remarks, the Penny4NASA nonprofit was founded in 2012 by John Zeller and advocates the doubling of NASA’s budget to one percent of the Federal Budget, or one “penny on the dollar.”

Less money for NASA, whose missions direct our eyes to the heavens, but more money for even more people on food stamps.

Way to go, Obama. You’re well on your destructive path to turn this once-great country into a Third World dump.
