What Do Conservatives Do Now?

Yesterday, the disastrous so-called Budget Control Act of 2011 became law. The law increases the US debt limit by more than $2 trillion; promises spending cuts that include defense; and creates a Super Committee of 12 who can raise taxes and cut entitlements.
Many conservatives feel dismayed and discouraged. We’ve played, peacefully, by the rules. We formed or joined TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party groups; blogged; wrote/called the White House and our representatives in Washington, DC; and dutifully trotted to the voting booths last November 2nd. Our efforts were rewarded with a historic midterm election that voted in a tidal wave of Republicans to state governorships, to the U.S. Senate, and to form a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Despite all our efforts, the Republicans in the House caved in and approved the debt deal with Obama. And so, yesterday Obama signed the bill into law.
Adding to our disillusionment is the fact that 70% of the GOP freshman class had voted to support the budget deal, among them is Florida’s Allen West. Many of the turncoats had been elected last November with the support of the Tea Party movement whose major cause is precisely that of cutting federal spending and reducing deficits.
So what do we do now?
I asked the other writers of the Fellowship to do some brainstorming. Simply and starkly, there really are only three choices:
1. Continue to work within the system:
We redouble our efforts and get ready for the 2012 elections. We vote out the GOP turncoats; re-elect those Republicans who had voted against the debt deal (go here for their names); vote for a true conservative in the Republican presidential primary; and most important of all, get Obama out of the White House! On that last task, here’s a hopeful message from political maven Dick Morris:
[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIeKDP_66U0&feature=player_embedded]
2. Overthrow the present corrupt system and restore the Constitution:
That’s a move never to be taken lightly, not only because of the certain losses of life and property, but also because of the uncertainty of success. As best as I know, there is not even a whiff of serious disaffection, even less of rebellion, among the U.S. military. But without the backing of the military, or at least a part of it, attempting a second American Revolution is quixotic and suicidal.
3. Drop out of the system:
We hit the bastards in the wallet and do whatever we can to cut off the flow of cash to Washington. We stop spending other than absolute necessities; do cash only transactions; cut up our credit cards; get our money out of banks, or at a minimum out of global banks and into local banks and credit unions. We circle the wagons, protect the homestead, and go into survivalist mode.
Seriously though, how many of us can or will do that?
So in the end, I keep coming back to Option One: Work Within the System. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Is there more I can do, in labor and dollars, to get the right people into office?
  • Am I in good fighting shape — physically, mentally, spiritually — for the battle? If not, get in shape!
  • If I am able (financially, family-wise) and have the aptitude (knowledge and understanding of politics; public speaking) to run for public office, why am I not doing it? Whom am I waiting for?
  • If I feel besieged, what about those House Republicans who went against their leader, that spineless RINO John Boehner, and voted against the debt deal? If your Congressman/woman is one of the 66 Samurai, send them a “Thank You” note or phonecall! (go here for the names of the 66).

Lastly, do not give in to despair. That’s a sure way for our opponents to win.
There is always hope.

Let the GOP Know Who’s Your Choice for 2012

No RINOs !!!!!!!!!!!

Let the Republican Party know whom you want to run for the presidency in 2012. Vote in this poll.

It’s a quick poll, with 10-11 questions.

One of the potential candidates about whom I know very little is Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, who recently announced his candidacy to be the GOP’s 2012 presidential nominee. So I looked him up on Wikipedia. You, too, can find out more about Pawlenty by going HERE.

Pawlenty’s strong suit (in contrast to Herman Cain and Allen West) is that he has executive experience, being in his second term as governor. He also appears to be a social and fiscal conservative. In the end, however, I decided against him because of two main reasons:

  1. Pawlenty was so much a RINO John McCain supporter that he served as a national cochair of McCain’s presidential exploratory committee in 2007, which led to Pawlenty becoming cochairman of McCain’s presidential campaign in 2008.
  2. A 2011 white paper by the Club for Growth, analyzing Pawlenty as a presidential candidate, found his political stance difficult to identify. The group praised him for reduced growth in spending and taxation, but found that he “has some simply inexcusable tax hikes in his record” and questioned his support of proposals such as “mandatory vegetable oil in gasoline, cap and trade, and a statewide smoking ban.” Chris Edwards, a director at the libertarian thinktank, Cato Institute, speculated that Pawlenty’s rightward tack in his second term was related to his impending presidential run.

Go vote for your choice to be the GOP’s nominee in 2012! CLICK HERE.

Do it now, because the poll ends on Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

H/t beloved fellow Tina.

Liberals now Focused on Allen West

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiYqA8Pa8R0]
This past Tuesday, liberal talk radio host Nicole Sandler  (notice her portrait on her website compared to her true self in the above vid) was arrested for heckling Allen West during a town hall.  Hecklers were at it again, spewing profanities and flipping off the crowd during another town hall meeting of Allen West.
Police escorted a number of people out of a town hall meeting Wednesday night — the second night in a row that U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., held what became a heated event. I think they’re a bunch of jerks,” said Anne Dion after police walked her outside. “That’s what I think about being forced to leave.”
Trouble was brewing even before the event started. Sign-carrying protesters were asked to leave private property. West warned the crowd about lashing out. “You see a lot of media cameras, and the media’s here because they want to see a show,” he said. The warning  did not stop supporters and critics from turning up the volume. “I don‘t care who’s yelling at me, cursing at me or saying whatever,” said West. “You are still in America.”
West is a true patriot and he will not bow down to anyone.  He will not be intimidated and will stand up to a Muslim from CAIR.  No wonder the liberals are now targeting him. Go West!

Allen West – Who Is Leading America?

AS EVENTS UNRAVEL, WHO IS LEADING AMERICA?

By Allen West (Scribe) on March 22nd, 2011
Greetings constituents, fellow Floridians, and all Americans across our great land. It is again time for our weekly Congressional update. As I travel throughout the district, I certainly appreciate the feedback on these missives, and even the emails and support from those outside our district who are receiving these reports.
There are those who feel the issues facing America are not threatening, certainly not of immediate concern. As I did my regular Saturday morning run along Fort Lauderdale beach this weekend, I pondered a simple question: “Who is leading America?”

We Are Screwed: Govt Mandatory Spending Will Exceed All Income in 2011

3 guesses who the dinosaurs are

The GOP campaign promise in 2010 midterm elections was to cut $100 billion from the feral gubmint’s bloated budget, as a way toward decreasing America’s super-gargantuan national debt of more than $14 TRILLION. The Demonrats, of course, are in a screaming-and-hair-pulling fit, opposed to any and all cuts.
House Republicans have passed two stopgap measures that achieve that level of cutting on a temporary basis. In lieu of bipartisan agreement on a longer-term spending plan, a two-week stopgap funding bill passed March 1 cut $4 billion from last year’s spending levels. A three-week extension, passed on Tuesday, cut $6 billion. Multiply those cuts out over an entire year, and House Republicans supposedly will hit their $100 billion mark.
But as Republicans gain ground in the fight over federal spending, a dispute already is simmering within the GOP’s ranks over just how aggressively to confront the White House and the Democratic Senate. A coalition of conservatives and tea partiers — led by Reps. Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Allen West (Fla.), Raul Labrador (Idaho), and Mike Pence (Ind.) — are pushing for more cuts and taking on Obama and the Demonrats, while Speaker John Boehner and GOP leaders are content with what they’ve achieved thus far in the House — achievements that have an uncertain future in a Senate in which Demonrats still have a majority.
Here’s the bad news:

Even if the Republicans, by some miracle, succeed in cutting not just the promised $100 billion, but all discretionary non-essential spending, the federal government’s project revenue income in 2011 will still be less than mandatory spending — required expenditure to which the government is obliged! In other words, we’d still be accumulating more debt!

There are two types of government spending:

  1. Discretionary spending, which accounts for roughly one-third of all Federal spending, includes money for things like the Army, FBI, the Coast Guard, and highway projects. Congress explicitly determines how much to spend (or not spend) on these programs on an annual basis.
  2. Mandatory spending accounts for two-thirds of all government spending. This kind of spending is authorized by permanent laws. It includes entitlements like Social Security, Medicare, and Food Stamps — programs through which individuals receive benefits based on their age, income, or other criteria. Spending levels in these areas are dictated by the number of people who sign up for these benefits, rather than by Congress.

Here’s what Jeffrey H. Anderson discovered, in his “Mandatory Spending to Exceed all Federal Revenues — 50 Years Ahead of Schedule,” Weekly Standard, March 16, 2011:

We have now gotten to the point — as I noted yesterday — where if national defense, interstate highways, national parks, homeland security, and all other discretionary programs somehow became absolutely free, we’d still have a budget deficit. The White House Office of Management and Budget projects that in the current fiscal year (2011), mandatory spending alone will exceed all federal receipts. So even if we didn’t spend a single cent on discretionary programs, we still wouldn’t be able to balance our budget this year — let alone pay off any of the $14 trillion in debt that we have already accumulated.

Simply put: the (Dis)United States of America is broke.
We are so screwed….

Democrat Congressman Published Soc Sec Number of GOP Opponent

Democratic Congressman Ron Klein of Florida’s 22nd District has sunken to a criminal low. His campaign published the Social Security number of Klein’s GOP opponent, Lt. Col. Allen West. West is a patriot, Iraq War veteran, and one of an extremely rare breed — a black Conservative. According to RealClearPolitics, the latest polling data say it’s a toss-up between incumbent Klein and challenger West.
Here’s Allen West’s account:

How would you feel if you arrived home after work only to hear your two teenage daughters describe the mailing your family received publicly disclosing your Social Security number? And imagine your disgust when you discover the same mailing has just been sent to thousands of homes across Broward and Palm Beach Counties?
Well, that just happened to me Friday evening.
My opponent, Incumbent Ron Klein, has just sunk to an unprecedented new low in American politics. Klein and his political cronies have sent my social security number to voters all across Florida’s Twenty Second Congressional District.
I understand politics is a tough business. I expect to be challenged about my ideas, my beliefs.
But Ron Klein has clearly crossed a line. Our lawyers are reviewing what legal action is available to my family.
I’m not sure the potential damage that might come to my wife and me.  And it makes me sick to think of what could happen to my daughters.
South Florida has the highest incidence of identity theft in the country – my entire family is now at risk of having our identities stolen, so we have to start the long, complicated, drawn-out process of requesting new Social Security Numbers, and all the troubles that come with that.
His type of politics must end now. If Klein and his Liberal allies will do this to me and my family, what will they do to each of you?
This is a despicable act by a desperate politician who is in danger of losing his job. I have longed believed the liberals would do anything just to stay in power. But never in my wildest dreams did I believe they would stoop this low.
Klein has once again aroused my competitive spirit. I am more determined than ever to spread the word of our cause to restore character, honor and integrity to Congress. Will you join our cause? Let’s show Ron Klein his below the belt political smears have no place in America.
