The Internal Revenue Service wrote to the Richmond Tea Party last year demanding to know the names of all its financial donors and volunteers, as part of a 55-question inquisition into its application for tax-exempt status, MailOnline has learned.
The agency wanted to know ‘the names of the donors, contributors, and grantors’ for every year ‘from inception to the present.’
It also demanded ‘the amounts of each of the donations, contributions, and grants and the dates you received them.’
‘How did you use these donations, contributions, and grants?’ the IRS asked. ‘Provide the details.’
And in addition to the names of board members, officers and employees, the nation’s taxing authorities insisted on knowing the names of everyone who helped the Richmond Tea Party without compensation.
‘Please identify your volunteers,’ the January 9, 2012 letter from the IRS read.
The agency also required the Virginia conservative group to provide copies of sections of its website that only its members can access.
The IRS came under fire on Friday when its Office of Inspector General released a draft of an investigative timeline showing that the agency had played political favorites with nonprofit groups seeking tax-exempt status.
In 2010, according to that investigation, the Cincinnati-based IRS office responsible for vetting tax-exempt applications began targeting groups with ‘Tea Party or similar’ words in their names – including words like ‘patriots’ and ‘9/12’ – for tighter scrutiny.
article-2323978-19C2D54C000005DC-443_636x271The Richmond Tea Party received this demand along with dozens of others from the IRS, asking for a list of its donors and the amounts they had contributed. The group refused, citing their donors’ right to privacy
The IRS ultimately identified approximately 300 such organizations, many of which were independently organized in 2009 and 2010 under the larger ‘tea party’ banner. Those groups had a decisive impact in the 2010 midterm congressional elections, and became a thorn in the side of the Democratic party, costing it race after race, especially in the House of Representatives, which shifted to Republican control.
In the nearly three years since the IRS began looking more closely at conservative nonprofit groups than others, 125 of the 300 target organizations have been approved for tax-exempt status. Another 25 withdrew their applications. The remainder are still waiting.
The Office of Inspector General’s timeline shows that in Washington, senior officials with the IRS were made aware of the practice by at least August 4, 2011. On that date, the chief counsel of the IRS met with the agency’s Rulings and Agreements unit ‘so that everyone would have the latest information on the issue.’
But during a press gaggle about Air Force One on Monday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney insisted the White House was unaware of the investigation or its political implications until last month.

US taxpayers spent 2,422% more on Obama than Brits on the royal family

Last year, the POS and Mrs. POS spent $1.4 BILLION ($1,400,000,000) of taxpayer dollars, paid by the 49% of Americans suckers who still pay federal income taxes.

In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million ($57,800,000) on the royal family last year.

$1,400,000,000
– $   57,800,000
=$1,342,000,000

That means U.S. taxpayers spent $1.342 billion or 2,422% more than what the Brits did. Put another way, the Brits spent on the British royal family 4.13% of what we spent on Mr. & Mrs. POS.

To think our Founding Fathers had fought a revolution against the monarchy only for America to be saddled with a faux king and queen who are spending an already bankrupt country into oblivion.

Barack 14th & Michelle Antoinette

Alex Pappas writes for the Daily Caller, Sept. 26, 2012:

Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.

In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.

Author Robert Keith Gray writes in “Presidential Perks Gone Royal” that […] the $1.4 billion spent on the Obama family last year is the “total cost of the presidency,” factoring the cost of the “biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever,” a 50 percent increase in the numbers of appointed czars and an Air Force One “running with the frequency of a scheduled air line.”

“The most concerning thing, I think, is the use of taxpayer funds to actually abet his re-election,” Gray […] said in an interview with TheDC on Wednesday. “The press has been so slow in picking up on this extraordinary increase in the president’s expenses,” Gray told TheDC. (RELATED: Five shocking truths about Michelle Obama)

Specifically, Gray said taxpayer dollars are subsidizing Obama’s re-election effort when he uses Air Force One to jet across the country campaigning.

When the trip is deemed political, it’s customary for the president to pay the equivalent of a first class commercial ticket for certain passengers. But Gray says that hardly covers the taxpayer cost of flying the president and his staffers around on Air Force One.

“When the United States’ billion-dollar air armada is being used politically, is it fair to taxpayers that we only be reimbursed by the president’s campaign committee for the value of one first-class commercial ticket for each passenger who is deemed aboard ‘for political purposes?’” Gray asks in the book. “And is that bargain-price advantage fair to those opposing an incumbent president?” (SEE ALSO: Millions of taxpayer dollars used for Disney World conference)

[…] Aside from a salary, the president gets a $50,000 a year expense account, a $100,000 travel account, $19,000 entertainment budget and an additional million for “unanticipated needs,” he notes.

Here is a sample of other pricey taxpayer funded perks exclusively reserved for the president:

The president can appoint high-paid staffers without Senate confirmation: Obama has 469 senior staffers and 226 are paid more than $100,000 a year, according to the book. Seventy-seven are paid as much as $172,000 per year. He also has appointed 43 “czars.”

The president can vacation for free at Camp David: Gray writes that each round trip made to Camp David costs the taxpayers $25,350. It’s also estimated that the combined transportation and personnel costs for a Camp David visit are $295,000 per night.

The president has a full-time movie projectionist in the White House theater: Projectionists sleep at the White House and are there 24 hours a day in case anyone needs to see a movie. “Compared to the 450 times President Carter used the movie theater in his four years in the White House, the average American citizen, according to industry statistics, goes out to see a movie slightly less than five times a year,” Gray writes.

The president’s family’s gets certain travel and security expenses paid while vacationing: “First Lady Michelle Obama drew flack from the media and irate citizens when it was disclosed that, not counting Saturdays and Sundays, she spent 42 days on vacation — within the span of one year.”

The president’s dog gets its own high-paid staffer: “Bo made the news when he and his handler were flown to join the president on vacation in Maine,” Gray wrote about the Obama family dog. “It has been reported that the first family’s dog handler was paid $102,000, last year.”

Two Americas

Obama's motorcade to the bookstore on Martha's Vineyard

On the first day of his 10-day vacation in playground-of-the-rich Martha’s Vineyard, Obama bought some books from the Bunch of Grapes book shop. After shopping, he was driven to Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown for a round of foursomes golf with long-time Chicago friend Eric Whitaker and two White House staffers.
Skippy and Michelle had taken separate government jets to Martha’s Vineyard, 500 miles from Washington, because Michelle just couldn’t, wouldn’t wait four hours for her husband.

The extra separate transport to get Michelle and daughters to the island cost taxpayers thousands in additional expenses. The costs related to Michelle’s solo trip mainly include the flight on the specially designed military aircraft she took instead of Air Force One, as well as any extra staff and Secret Service that had to be enlisted to go with her. She also had her own motorcade from the airport to their $50,000-per-week vacation farm-house.
Skippy arrived four hours later, using two helicopters and Air Force One to get to Martha’s Vineyard.
Thousands wait in line in Atlanta’s heat for the job fair

Meanwhile, on August 18, 2011, thousands of jobless Americans camped out overnight for a job fair in Atlanta, before waiting, dressed in their full business suits, in a seemingly endless line in the baking heat. Authorities treated 20 people for heat exhaustion as they struggled to keep the line moving and get people moved inside.
The “For the People Jobs Initiative” was hosted by Congressmen John Lewis and Hank Johnson of the Congressional Black Caucus, in response to an increase in Georgia’s jobless rate to 10.1% in July from the 9.9% in June. Last month was the 48th consecutive month that Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate of 9.1%. The unemployment rate for the state’s African-Americans is even worse, at 15.9%.
These desperate Americans must wait until Obama has finished vacationing for the unveiling of his new economic plan.
Obama says, “Ciao, baby! See you in September!”

What to Wear for Air Force One

How to step off Air Force One with dignity while representing the greatest nation on earth….

I wear shorts in the summer, but only at home. I certainly would not wear this shabby trashy shorts outfit for a plane trip. And to think, MO wore this on Air Force One!
She should also wear a bra or, if she was wearing one, she should get a better-fitting one to lift up those saggy boobs.
But then this is the woman who said, in February 2008, that only when her husband’s presidential campaign caught fire did she feel proud of her country for the first time in her adult life. So we can hardly expect her to be sensitive to the dignity of the office of the President of the United States, or of being First Lady, or to what Air Force One symbolizes to the American people.
H/t beloved fellow May.
