MACON, Ga. — Early Saturday, Luisa Campbell said, “I thought I was going to die” — and she wanted to take someone with her.
The 57-year-old Warner Robins businesswoman says she shot and wounded one of two armed men who tried to rob her outside her daughter’s house in Macon early Saturday morning.
Police said the wounded man, Brenton Lance Spencer, 32, remains under 24-hour guard at the Medical Center of Central Georgia, and will be taken to jail when he recovers from a gunshot wound in the abdomen. Police and the hospital have not disclosed his condition.

Campbell told 13WMAZ’s Candace Adorka that she owns several convenience stores and gas stations in Macon, including the Shell station at 2700 Riverside Dr.
Campbell said she had just dropped her grandson off at her daughter’s house on English Avenue in the Vineville area.
She says she was parked in the driveway, looking through her purse for her phone, when someone started yelling and demanding money.
“I said, I got no money. Then he said, you don’t open the door, I’ll shoot you. I answered him and said you’re gonna kill me anyway no matter what,” said Campbell.
She says that’s when the man fired and she fired back.
“He shot the passenger’s side window, the bullet went through the driver’s window. I backed up and he did miss me. When I backed up I saw one more guy in the front.”
She says there was a second man standing in front of her car, illuminated by her high beams. He was also wielding a .48 caliber gun.
“I said Oh God, I’m gonna die, but they have bad news for them, I always carry a gun, 24 hours, 7 days a week.”
She said she suspects they were customers who followed her from the Shell station.
It wasn’t until later, after police found one of the suspected robbers, that Campbell found out one of her bullets pierced the would-be robber on the passenger’s side in the abdomen.
She thought at the time that she was going to die anyway, and was going to “take one of them with me,” Campbell said she’s now glad she didn’t kill the robber.
She said she buried her own son a week ago, from natural causes, and doesn’t want another parent to go through that.
Police are still looking for the other suspect, Dantre Horatio Shivers, 35 years old.
Campbell says she owns more guns than she can count. One of them — not the one she used early Saturday — is pink.
