Yes, nice post. That has been a recurring theme for over 2,000 years. I’ve studied Patristics and the Church councils and it never seems to stop. Even the ongoing schism between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches fundamentally derives from this. I’ve been re-reading St. Augustines “Confessions” again. In some regards it could have been written yesterday. I often feel the same when reading “Corinthians”. When I worked with RCIA there is a time for “discernment” of candidates.
