Regarding some of the criticisms of Sander’s policies: Who is the author of TPP, TISA … private Corporations and their desire to draconically meter usage via high prices is why our internet is so slow. The Christian criterion for a fair wage is not the market place, where the best wage is merely the lowest. A fair wage is one that can sustain and meet the needs of a family. It is irrelevant what the skill level of the job requires, if it cannot meet this standard is unjust. Corporations make billions in profits from low skilled labor. They can… Read more »

Only an idiot or a brainwashed dupe for the super rich could not know what this means. It means can you adequately feed cloth, shelter, provide healthcare and properly educate you family and children. Or should families be forced to work 40 hours a week and still qualify for public assistance. This is what is actually happening in the real world. And believe it or not, it costs taxpayers more, as YOU have to pay to subsidize Wallmart and Burger Kings wages with SNAP, when higher wages in first place with help economy grow for everyone. People like you never… Read more »

How have I insuled you? You mindless repeat the misanthropic canard that people are poor because they are lazy, stupid or criminals; and because of that they don’t deserve living wages. They don’t even deserve public assistance in you view because they all waste it on vices and luxuries. I’m sorry but this clearly establishes your credentials as an “idiot”.

Too bad you could not spell insulted right , what’s the problem , too many letters in the word ? What gives you the right to lay claim to another persons intellectual abilities for no recompense ? They actually went to school to learn , not to be popular . Probably a novel concept in your mindset . If you are so enamored with the socialistic lifestyle , I’m sure we capitalists would be happy to send you a one way ticket to that heaven on Earth place known as Cuba . Then try typing out a comment that is… Read more »

I believe you answered your own diatribe on this board: A Christian nation that observes unskilled laborers/low skill workers putting in a 40 hour work week and still not making enough to raise a family comfortably: elected representatives, Senators, Presidents, who made and signed into law the Head Start program, the free lunch program, the per diem federal support for public education, the Title I and Title II fundings for low income schools, the Healthy Child programs at schools that check hearing, eyes, skeletal growth, teeth….and provide help for families when there is a problem found, the “Well Child and… Read more »

The only thing more appalling than your hatred for the poor is your ignorance. Welfare and and nearly all the programs needed to help the poor and unemployed survive until they found work, was eliminated by Bill Clinton in 1996 when he signed the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act. So what the poor survive on today is Medicaid and SNAP. The latter affords one 1.50 a day to eat. That you think they have enough government aid to waste is a risible lie.

You ass-ume too much. I work at a school with better than 75% poverty rate because I CARE. All these programs are intact…AND, both my husband and I worked for Indian Health for many years before this….and it is intact…as are the other programs I mentioned, unless they are not needed anymore, like the TVA, that brought electricity to rural America…..My school pays at least 2 “teachers on special assignment—(usually a remedial reading course) with Title I monies even today…..I’m even a neighborhood unpaid “captain” for helping the elderly, disabled, poor to access their electric/heating assistance. So, I gather you… Read more »

Dude, that means folk need skills for a fair wage. If folk get paid a fair wage for no skills, it’s unjust to the person pay them (and probably impossible for them have a business that can employ people to meet the needs of their families). $15/hour for unskilled labor… hope you like $7.95 Big Macs.

There are many sound economic reasons to raise the minimum wage to $15 dollars, reasons that benefit everyone. The problem with people like you that get all of the ideas about economics from msm memes on television. First of all considering wages should be raised simply because it has not been adjusted for inflation or with lowered costs of production due to tech advancements. As Robert Reich points out, ” If the minimum wage in 1968 had simply kept up with inflation it would be more than $10 today. If it also kept up with the added productivity of American… Read more »

The root of the problem is . . . “poor people have poor ways!” When people decide to stop their intellectual progression by dropping out of school–why should the world cater to them by providing the same amount of income as those who diligently finish high school, perhaps go on to further education . . . university, trade school, any kind of further education to make them viable in the labor market. When folks really believe that they are “entitled” to all the goodies that life could possibly provide, with little or no effort . . . it is a… Read more »

So you are saying that people of limited ability and intellect, can be exploited for the labor they do and to suffer in dire poverty? The jobs they perform are necessary and generate billions for their employees. Again, this is pure hatred and selfishness of corporations. If your employer makes billions from YOUR labor, how are you not entitled to make enough to live on? Is it fair that After 40 hour work week you still need SNAP food assistance from taxpayers? A minimum wage, for those that claim Jesus Christ as their Savior, is one that can support a… Read more »

Why is it that the companies exploiting people with low-paying “jobs for blobs” are usually the self-proclaimed “progressive” ones that donate heavily to the DNC, are into “sustainability” and other “green” stuff, and even advocate Fight for $15/hr wages but wouldn’t be caught dead actually paying their lowest-paid folk that without a law mandating it? Tell me that.

Excellent Auntie. Guess somewhere along the way, they ignored the fact that those paying jobs are for high schoolers, an entry level job to introduce them to the world of jobs. A high schooler working part time for 20 hours comes out with some pretty good spending cash. I would hate to think anyone that has experience and training and declare themselves too good for those jobs, would settle for less. You get out what you put in. Sadly so many girls in high school have decided the way to riches is to have a baby and then live off… Read more »
