Holy TrinityGenesis 1:26

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

John 5:7

For there are three that bear record in Heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one.

Triune GodheadSt. Thomas Aquinas on the mystery of the Triune Godhead:

“We cannot come to the knowledge of the Trinity by reason alone, that is, by the natural and unaided efforts of the human mind. By our natural reason, we can know that God exists; that he is the First Cause of all; that he is one, infinite, simple, immutable, etc. But that the one God subsists in three really distinct Persons is a truth that can be known only by supernatural means. That is a truth beyond the reach of human reason to know, to prove, or to disprove. We know this truth by divine revelation, and accept it by supernatural faith; we take it upon the authority of God himself. […] By aid of the light of glory the soul in heaven sees God himself clearly and truly.” –Summa Theologica

Corinthians 13:11-12

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.

  1. That isn’t so hard to see, we are a three fold creature, if we believe that Jesus was the Son or Body of God! We then have a Body, Soul and a Holy Spirit: Body that will die and be resurrected just Like Jesus’s Body was!
A Soul that will live for ever, that is the seat our knowledge! The Spirit, if we are Born Again! God made Adam just like that, a three fold person, Like God until he and Eve sinned in the garden then he was only a two fold person, he lost the third part the Holy Spirit!
Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth! A two fold person! Not until after the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus could man have living in Him the third part of God the Holy Spirit, in him!
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. That my friend is the third part of God the Holy Spirit, that Adam lost in the Garden!

  3. Thank you Dr. Eowyn for this most profound and meaningful post. As our wonderful priest said during His homily, if we are in the state of grace, the Holy Trinity resides in us as the guest of our soul.
