Psalm 91

You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High,
who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
Say to the Lord, “My refuge and fortress,
my God in whom I trust.”
God will rescue you from the fowler’s snare,
from the destroying plague,
Will shelter you with pinions,
spread wings that you may take refuge;
God’s faithfulness is a protecting shield.
You shall not fear the terror of the night
nor the arrow that flies by day,
Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness,
nor the plague that ravages at noon.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
ten thousand at your hand,
near you it shall not come.
You need simply watch;
the punishment of the wicked you will see.
You have the Lord for your refuge;
you have made the Most High your stronghold.
No evil shall befall you,
nor affliction come near your tent.
For God commands the angels
to guard you in all your ways.
With their hands they shall support you,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the asp and the viper,
trample the lion and the dragon.
Whoever clings to me I will deliver;
whoever knows my name I will set on high.
All who call upon me I will answer;
I will be with them in distress;
I will deliver them and give them honor.
With length of days I will satisfy them
and show them my saving power.

  1. I’ve made this into a bookmark. I’m going through some testing times so I have St Michael and this Psalm to keep me focused!!

  2. I thought of our soldiers in danger while reading this. God bless & protect them.

  3. Last night 3 of my adult children were caught driving through the plains in that huge icy, windy storm. The visibility was low, the roads were slick, their car hit an embankment and rolled. My daughter called and told me it was a miracle…not one of them was hurt even though the car was totaled. I read Psalms 91 aloud and prayed each verse specifically for them and for my husband who drove for 6 hours in the middle of the night to rescue them.
    They still aren’t home yet, but I know they are under the shadow of His wings and He is protecting them and I praise Him that they are alive this morning, and you can imagine how much this post blessed me when I found it this morning. Our God is an awesome God and He cares for each one of us, like a father loves his children and He is with us in distress and delivers us when we call upon Him..

  4. The hymn On Eagle’s Wings is based on this psalm and it has always been one of my favorites.
    We gather together on this most holy Palm Sunday and give glory to God and humble ourselves for his mercy and protection.

  5. One of my favorites. God bless you all..

  7. Oh! Thank you, thank you, thank you! A great start to the week….
