Suicides outpacing Wuhan virus deaths in Knox County, Tennessee

This will come as no surprise, except maybe to the bureaucrats and “experts.”

Shutting down one’s livelihood and the economic machine that drives EVERYTHING for EVERYONE has consequences. A severe economic depression is about to hit this country due to governments shutting everything down to try and “save” all of us.

The reality of a “shelter in place” has already started in Tennessee. 10News reports the following: “Knox Co. seeing an increase in suspected suicides during coronavirus pandemic.”

The byline: “Mayor Glenn Jacobs said he was shocked and it made him wonder if they were handling this the right way.”

Some details from the article:

Knox County is seeing a disturbing trend in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mayor Glenn Jacobs said on Friday that the Regional Forensic Center examined nine suspected suicide cases – eight of which are from within Knox County – in the past 48 hours alone.

That’s 10 percent of the total number of suicides from all of last year, when there were 199 confirmed or suspected suicides from across the region and 83 in Knox County.

“That number is completely shocking and makes me wonder if what we are doing now is really the best approach,” Mayor Jacobs said. “We have to determine how we can respond to COVID-19 in a way that keeps our economy intact, keeps people employed and empowers them with a feeling of hope and optimism – not desperation and despair.”

The director of the Knox County Health Department was visually emotional at the daily press conference Friday as she spoke about these sobering numbers.

“Now, more than ever, we need to be kinder and gentler with ourselves and with each other,” Dr. Martha Buchanan said. “If you are struggling, I encourage you to reach out. Reach out to your pastor, a friend, call the hotlines.”

She said she knows the decisions Knox County leaders have made to stop the spread of the coronavirus are hard, and the people who have made the decisions are struggling with that. But she emphasized these are the decisions that will keep people safe and stop the spread of coronavirus.

I’m no economic genius, unlike Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, yet anyone with a functioning brain could have told you that shutting down our economic machine would and WILL have a major impact on the health of millions of Americans.

Yet we are to assume that this shutdown, according to the bureaucrats, will “keep people safe.”

“Safe” while unemployed, broke and unable to pay your mortgage/rent and bills or feed your family is not a way to go through life.

I leave you with the words from this tweet I read:

Everyone making decisions about every American’s earning power, job and business has a fat, full-time, guaranteed, salaried paycheck and they’ll get paid no matter what. They are CLUELESS about the consequences of a shut-down for average Americans. Worse, they don’t give a damn.”

There is no doubt in my mind this whole sham is an exercise in population control.

The left will try this again the next time they lose an election or have one of their long term Globalism goals stymied.

They wonder if they are “handling this the right way”. How is it even possible that such clueless incompetent morons are in positions of authority? I’ve been expecting this and it’s going to get much worse. It’s devastating to lose a business, a way to make a living, a home, and even more devastating to realize you have have lost them for no good reason. And these demonic bastards have done everything in their power to scare and demoralize people over absolutely nothing. A bad cold is going around. Maybe. And they say, “We’ll get through this”. WE?

Yeah me too. Stay in the present moment, difficult but not impossible. TPTB just decide to do these things (wars, events like 9/11, etc.) and there is nothing we can do about it other than to expect them, pray, keep our powder dry. “These matters bee kynges games and pore men be but ye lokers on.” (I’ve worn out Thomas More 🙂 )

We’re lucky the death rate is very low. Had it met the predictions and Trump got shamed into delivering the entire Federal stock of ventilators to NY the left would have intentionally spread the disease elsewhere and then hammer Trump for misallocating resources by giving them all to Cuomo who asked for them in huge numbers. If I remember correctly Andrew Cuomo asked for 400,000 ventilators but thanks to Trump not being so gullible got only 4,000. Had all of them been put in NY you can bet the ranch a more dire need for them would have occurred somewhere… Read more »

The way the medical system works, I wouldn’t be surprised that they classify any “sickness” as the coronavirus. Even stuff like asthma and bronchitis and allergies…. I saw what they did with my dad’s infection from a procedure he had done, they didn’t test him at all and said he had the flu. I don’t trust ’em!

Aside from the economic destruction of many households (all planned, by the way), the members of some households do not get along, and people need places to escape to in order to avoid painful confrontations and blow-ups. Now that we’re all trapped in our houses, there is no escape for those who periodically (perhaps even regularly) need it. Expect more suicides, homicides, and runaways.

In short, societal chaos. And “they” will come riding in to rescue us. There will also be a huge uptick in “mental illness” (depression, disabling anxiety). All the mental health clinics here are closed

Agreed 100%, the economic shutdown is a serious mistake on President Trumps’ behalf and the left will make hay of the ensuing economic malaise come fall beyond the shadow of doubt!

I can’t believe these doctors are mis-diagnosing the deaths as “suicide”. The only acceptable cause of death is Covid 19! 🙄😷

Either C-19 or climate change. The only possibilities

That was a brilliant quote you got from C.S. Lewis. I love his works.
They want mandatory vaccinations of everyone, of course. And I don’t trust a vowed eugenicist like bill gates and his sham “medical charity”.

This is one of the greatest quotes of all time — and it’s also one of the greatest ironies that christian prohibitionists who torment us “for our own good” also revere and promote the works of C.S. Lewis “cause Aslan represents Jesus.”
