As you can see, the pianist is blind — from birth.
His name is Nobuyuki Tsujii, a 22-year-old Japanese pianist and composer who shared the First Prize at the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009 (co-winner was Haochen Zhang of China).
Van Cliburn himself is quoted as having told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Tsujii “was absolutely miraculous. His performance had the power of a healing service. It was truly divine.”
