Soul Cleaning

I’ve been blogging for over three years now, 2½ of which on Fellowship of the Minds.
Blogging entails not just writing, but looking for and reading news — sometimes horrific news like the Miami cannibal — but also reading and monitoring comments by readers. Alas, some of our readers not just attack and insult us, they issue death threats. Others are proponents of pedophilia and bestiality.
For me, the absolute worst thing about blogging is the discovery and daily re-discovery of the foul, sick, downright evil underbelly of humanity — from the macro-level ills of corrupt politicians, shadowy sinister TPTB overlords, abortion, genocide and gendercide; to the micro-level horrors of pedophiles, pederasts, bestialists, gay bowel syndrome…. There is no limit to human depravity. There is no end to human iniquity.
No wonder my sweet Lord sweat blood in the Garden of Gethsemane, seeing before Him all the sins of humanity — past, present and future.
This is my cri de coeur:

Our Father
Who art in Heaven
Blessed be Thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On Earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.

Help us, Father!

    Thank you for this post!
This is God’s answer to assist us now… the Gift Jesus gave us from the Cross.

Amen! Thank you, Eowyn. The Lord’s Prayer is the perfect way to start the day!

  3. I bounced off the bottom the other day…but eventually I looked up.
It’s friends like you, Eowyn and FOM, that make life a bit more
bearable and strengthen me by way of a smile or inspiration….
for in your passion I see what is worthy of protection and redemption…
a spark of light ‘midst the darkness and depravity.
    May He come quickly….

  4. Just got through looking over the Drudge Report. If that’s not a daily dose of the state of humanity, nothing is. Thanks for reminding us that God has it all under control!

    Romans 8
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

  6. There is no prayer I trust more, considering the One who taught it to us.
Four years ago, when I realized we had a guaranteed losing candidate in McCain, I was in shock. I knew the Democrat candidate was a deceiver, and we were in for a very bad time. At that moment the Lord impressed on me the verse, “Be still and know that I am God.” I looked it up, and read the whole psalm, 46, that contains it. Since then Psalm 46 has been an anchor to my peace. It speaks of God’s faithfulness in the midst of cataclysmic times.
I urge all this blog’s readers to visit this psalm, and find rest.

  7. Thanks for this, Eowyn–I needed it!

  8. After my encounter with the ‘girl lover’ freakazoid from Hell last night, I poured up a glass of the little bit of single malt scotch I had left (it wasn’t much), then went up and took a long, hot bath.
I wanted to pour a few cups of bleach in the tub, to be honest.
All I could think about was my three beautiful nieces, and what I would do to anyone that harmed them.
If anyone was offended by what I said to that worthless puke, I am as sorry as I can be.
But I’d do it again, and next time it just might not be the ‘kind’ version.
Sometimes you just have to get down in the mud and wrestle with the swine, and do so on their level.
It’s the only thing they understand.

  9. My prayer every morning…
