Silly Us. It's Just a Contrail!

Contrails (short for “condensation trails”) or vapour trails are artificial clouds that are the visible trails of condensed water vapour made by the exhaust of aircraft engines. As the hot exhaust gases cool in the surrounding air they may precipitate a cloud of microscopic water droplets. If the air is cold enough, this trail will comprise tiny ice crystals.
First, it was that travelling blue light thingy in the night sky over Centreville, Virginia, just above Lee Highway. Many shoppers saw the strange light for 10 minutes, including Bryan Fains who quickly grabbed his cell phone and captured it on video.
Fains said, “All of a sudden, it would stop and go back like this,” using his finger to point out the direction of the blue light in the sky. “At one point, it stopped and went up and up. [There] was no sound. It was a distinct blue light. It never flashed or blinked or nothing. It was just blue. It’s weird. You only see this type of stuff in movies.”

Then, it was that missile-thingy launched into the sky off the coast of southern California last Monday (November 9). KCBS news helicopter cameraman Gil Leyvas videotaped the missile plume at around 5 pm PST at the height of evening rush hour. The Pentagon says it’s just contrail from a jet aircraft!

Yesterday (November 11) at sunset, this bizarre, glowing red-hot streak in the sky was seen moving briskly behind the Manhattan skyline. CBS 2 asked an unnamed “top astronomer” to look at the video. He said it looks beautiful, but that it was nothing more than a contrail from a commercial or military jet!

Move along, folks. Nothing to see here. It’s all contrails!

thank you for putting this together… of my FB friends had a home video of the first one but the quality wasn’t as good…..
I wonder when people are going to start acting like normal people and get pissed when someone indicates they are stupid….and blind to boot…

OH!…..almost forgot… might want to add these photos to your list of ‘silly contrails’……if I read it correctly this event happened at about the same time as the one out by Catalina- allowing for the time difference….

  3. Alrighty then… just a “weather balloon,” etc.

I just got this….which claims to be the only one of it….

  5. While I claim no expert status in things related to aviation, I spent 4 years in the Navy working on jets and helicopters – two years at NAS Pensacola and two at NAS Norfolk. I am still the type of person that looks up to identify anything that is flying overhead. In my OPINION, the one from New York is moving too fast to be a an airplane. Some military craft can travel at very high rates of speed – several times the speed of sound – but typically would not do so at the altitude seen in the video. On one blog someone posted that the speed is just an illusion caused by the movement of the helicopter shooting the footage. I don’t think so. The camera is having to pan hard to follow the object. The buildings, being fixed, still allow one to gauge the relative speed of the object.
As far as the California object, I don’t see how anyone can claim it’s a commercial craft; you can see the bright burn of the exhaust at .43-45 seconds in the video. I have seen 14s and 18s take off at evening/night on afterburn – it looks similar to this – but the con-trail/plume is not consistent with anything I have ever seen from a fighter jet. Besides, the military is claiming it wasn’t anything of theirs.

Ted….what do you think of the ‘spiral’ video? (it looks to me like something- missile(?) malfunctioned…..

  7. Not sure what has caused the trails. Even if you allow for the effects of the upper-level winds on the trail over a reasonable amount of time, it still looks like something zig-zagged and spiraled.

  8. I guess I’m just a but too busy working on my latest book to get overly exercised, connecting the dots.
When these things begin landing and the occupants are seen wandering in town…..or the “missiles” begin hitting targets and damaging property or injuring/killing people…then I’ll pay more attention.
Til then, as long as they all stay up in the sky, I can’t get too excited.
    Maybe they’re angels…… : )
    back to the drawing board

  9. Funny, they tell us it’s a plane yet not which one, which flight number etc… should be easy enough to verify, we have time and location, check the flight logs please. The strange thing is we are now having more and more incidents world wide of these sorts of things. January over newfoundland canada, same thing, video of a missile. The Can. gov’t says it wasn’t them, the french say it wasn’t them, who was it then? oh well, nevermind. Over new york this year twice, over norway, sweden, and a missile was photographed over new york the same day and time flight 800 went down. The FBI looked into it and said it was going the other way as the plane. They never explained the missile however. loads more of ufo reports as well are coming in, what’s up? Is project blue beam being initiated?

  10. Heard it was a USAir flight from HNL (Honolulu) but why is it ascending? Heard that the red tip was because the sun was reflecting but usairs planes are dark blue with white bottom so would not reflect red.
We owe the Chinese lots of money and I have no doubt that this was an ‘in your face’ display to the spineless, cowardly, pw-ed jackass mongrel. (he called himself a mongrel)
We are in a heap of trouble with there being no reaction to this act of war- our government is covering their eyes while hiding in the bushes, shaking and probably urinating and defecating in their tighty whiteys.

  11. I meant, why is it not ascending-
I have never been on a plane that took off from the water and shot straight upwards. And how dare the government brush us off saying that it may have been a model rocket launch. I just lump this with the TSA screenings. They think that we are stupid enough to believe their BS.
