Shocker, not: Shootings surge in NYC amid disbanding of NYPD’s plainclothes anti-crime unit

As if no one could have predicted this…

Shootings are surging this week in New York City, with 28 incidents and 38 victims reported since Monday — the day the NYPD disbanded its plainclothes anti-crime unit, The Post learned on Friday.

By comparison, the same week last year there were only 12 shootings for the entire week.

“This is what the politicians wanted — no bail, nobody in Rikers, cops not arresting anyone,” one angry law enforcement source said Friday.

“All those things equal people walking around on the street with guns, shooting each other.”

The shooting spree includes at least five murders, sources told The Post.”

Bring back the Guardian Angels NYC. They fixed things the last times NYC went without good law enforcement.

As much as I detest both Cuomo and Deblasio, I don’t think the ideas of no bail release and the elimination of the plainclothes police squad were theirs alone. Someone, unknown, suggested these ideas. Who is this someone? I don’t know. It could have come from anyone on the state level, but as the release of prisoners from jail because of the virus went nationwide very quickly, it could have come from the federal level.
