Shocker, not: Chicago police retiring at twice the normal rate

Can you blame them with the defund the police movement and Mayor Lightfoot’s “leadership” skills (see examples here and here).

According to MyFoxChicago, Chicago Police personnel have been retiring at twice the usual rate recently, which could leave the city streets short of officers.

They report that at least 110 police officers are retiring in August and September, and retirements in 2020 are projected to be higher than the past couple of years.

The vice president of the board of trustees for the Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago partially blames this on a change in health insurance benefits.

Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I think we know what is the actual driving force behind Chicago Police retirements. Might have something to do with this?

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best recently announced her retirement due to “lack of respect for her and her officers.”

Just recently over 20 percent of Minneapolis police officers applied for permanent disability mostly related to PTSD after the George Floyd rioting.

And in NYC, which is experiencing a high rate of rioting, looting and crime, NYPD retirements are surging.

I’m sensing a pattern here in demorat-run cities…

This will only mean even more homicides in Chicago. Does anyone know Chicago’s out-migration rate, the number of people moving away?

I did a cursory search, and this one’s within the last couple of years:

https://www.chicagobusiness.com/news/chicago-still-losing-population

The search brought up mostly why are people leaving Illinois articles, not so much Chicago, but when they do, it’s for a variety of reasons (so they say).

But we all know the main reasons why (pervasive corruption, and angry blacks killing everybody).

How can so many young (mostly) people (questionable) think it’s ok to attack the cops like this? And how does the MSM and Dem politicians have the gall to claim it’s all “peaceful protests”, or perhaps “civil unrest” going on out there??? Have to say, I enjoyed seeing them get sprayed right about the time I was thinking that’s exactly what was needed. These kids were NEVER taught to respect authority, never spanked by parents, and never disciplined in school; this, to them, is acceptable behavior because they’ve never been held responsible for anything. No accountability. They want to be… Read more »

I can not blame any police officer that decides to retire with the current feelings against them. Being a cop is a thankless enough job without the added bullshit of today.

Chicago is in a nose dive. What will it become if Dems remain in control?
