Santorum quits

It’s over.
Rick Santorum’s quixotic campaign to be the Republican presidential candidate is over. He announced today he’s “suspending” his campaign.
Santorum had dropped out of events on Monday in order to spend more time with his ailing three-year-old daughter Bella. The girl is afflicted with the rare genetic condition Trisomy 18, which is typically fatal, and was hospitalised earlier this year with pneumonia.

Santorum and Bella

Santorum made the announcement in his home state of Pennsylvania, two weeks before the GOP presidential primary there. But it was believed he faced a tough fight in his home state against Mitt Romney, and a defeat would have proved embarrassing.
The former Pennsylvania senator had been under mounting pressure from the Republicans to step aside following a series of Romney victories in the primaries.
Santorum’s announcement today now leaves the way open for  Romney to stand almost unopposed to take on Obama in November’s election.

Senator Santorum,
Thank you for fighting the good fight. That’s all God ever asks each of us to do.
Now, go home and take care of your family. Bella especially needs you.

  1. So, a Mormon and a closeted Muslim walk into a bar…..They decide to arm wrestle……who loses?
    THE AMERICAN PEOPLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Good fight sir! Sorry he couldn’t go all the way…

  3. I think it was time. Republicans should coalesce around Romney and focus their energy on defeating Obama. Having just toured a new Mormon Temple in Kansas City today I have my reservations about this ‘religion’ and one of its members running for POTUS. However, I believe he’s a moral man and one with intelligence and experience to get America moving in the right direction.

    • There needs to be some folk talking sincere with the boy behind closed doors about that he can be a RINO on his own time but the conservative base won’t support him for the win if he doesn’t put Constitutional principles first and grow some cojones versus the Demo-rats as a candidate..

  4. Yep. They stopped Herman Cain from even getting out of the gate. Between the system and the SRM it’s hard to get a great candidate.

He’s not a candidate I support because he didn’t address my issue; but, he’s an honorable man and a loving father. I think he’s chosen wisely, considering the precarious health of his precious daughter. The Santorum family needs our prayers for healing, strength and comfort.

  6. Remember, there is no perfect candidate, only the best available candidate to remove Obama from the White House. If Republicans stay home in November, fretting about their nominee, Obama will be unleashed in all his fury for four more years. That won’t be pretty.

  7. Good for him. Who would run against someone who isn’t legally there. It doesn’t make sense………………..
Santorum came to realize that spending time and money fighting a phantom is not anything a real person could or should do.
Talk about throwing your pearls to the swine!!

  8. Roger that,Alice…too nice of a guy and the gOP fix is in.
They could all drop out…but MSM still wouldn’t mention Ron Paul…

  9. God first, Family second. As far as backing Romney, we need to look at this as a step in the process. Get a more conservative president and then find one who is more so.
