Rapper Drake purchases massive private jet despite rapping about dangers of climate change

No doubt Leo is hoping to catch a ride on that private plane one day…

From Daily Mail: Drake now owns a massive Boeing 767 cargo plane – despite once rapping about the dangers of climate change on the polar ice caps.

The ‘Trophies’ rapper unveiled his new possession on Instagram Friday and the aircraft features his OVO owl symbol, along with the moniker ‘Air Drake.’

OVO stands for Drake’s company – October’s Very Own – and for his record label OVO sound.

The 32-year-old Grammy winner took viewers on a quick tour of the plane’s interior. Inside the plane are luxury gold and brown sofas adorned with gold walls. ‘No rental, no timeshare, no co-owners,’ he proudly boasts as he shows off his new plane.

In the clip, Drake also pays homage to CargoJet’s President and CEO Ajay Virmani. He stated: ‘That guy made it happen right there, that’s the man.’

The unveiling of the plane comes after news broke that Drake had partnered with the Canadian company.

‘We are very excited to partner with Drake as our ambassador and assisting him with his logistical needs and requirements,’ Virmani said in the statement. ‘We have had a lengthy relationship with Drake and this partnership has grown organically between both parties. Cargojet and Drake are both great Canadian successes, we are thrilled to be partnering together.’

Airways magazine puts the massive plane at approximately $185million – and that is without the customization.

But the new plane does seem to go against a brief moment when the rapper appeared to warn on the dangers of climate change.

In his song ‘Heat of the Moment’ he makes reference to climate change and specifically the melting of the ice cap. ‘And all the cops are still hangin’ out at the doughnut shops,’ he says in the song. ‘Talkin’ ’bout how the weather’s changin. The ice is meltin’ as if the world is endin.’

While the song is about his relationship with a woman, it is clear he was thinking about the impending chaos that would come with climate change.

Now it seems he’s aiding in the process.

———————

Back in 2014, “Kill Your Darlings” described Drake’s “Heat of the Moment” ballad as such:

He uses the song as a platform to rail against climate change and examine his own complicity in the ongoing degradation of the natural world.

He enters a state of existential reflection, with a realisation of his impeding mortality: what will be the intrinsic value of his music, if the ice caps melt and the world is no longer sustainable? Or perhaps more pertinently, he realises that with his stadium-sized cultural standing, and ability to impact on the world at large, he is in an undeniable position of power to enact meaningful change and ensure the survival of the planet’s ecosystem – a network nearly as complicated, beautiful, and wonderfully diverse as Drake himself.

The ‘strap’ (condom) that Drake doesn’t have on him is a poignant metaphor for his hitherto unprotected involvement with the neoliberal capitalist structures that enable his multi-million dollar success as a recording artist. He has engaged with these structures without giving any thought to the potential consequences if he proceeds with his irresponsible lifestyle of shallow pleasures. The reference to the ‘last man’ leaving his girl behind, and him picking ‘it’ up, is a sly post-imperialist nod to the ways in which the Baby Boomer generation have acted without care toward our planet, and an acknowledgement that Drake’s generation, which has perhaps previously been reluctant to assume this responsibility, must now do so.”

Read the rest here where they state, Drake has bought himself a Prius – he’s ‘riding clean’ – and yet, in this confession he makes directly to God, he is still thinking about his many luxurious gas-guzzling mistresses – ‘but I’m thinking dirty things, yes Lord, yes Lord’.

“what will be the intrinsic value of his music, if the ice caps melt” The ice caps melt in the summer and grow in the winter. Imagine that. They will never get to the point of ice-free polar regions. Even if they did the “intrinsic value” of his “music” would be the same – zilch. I don’t know anything about “Drake”. Reading this I gather he is Canadian. He doesn’t look Canadian. But otherwise a site of absences, like most celebrities famous for being famous. Now that I know this much I’ll try to erase it from my internal hard… Read more »

Total hypocrite. He reminds me of socialist Bernie Sanders campaigning flying around on a private jet.

As an old ClimateGate user on YouTube used to say “When frauds like Lord Carbon Credit Al Gore start acting like there really is a “crisis” perhaps than some people would take them seriously”

They sure did hate that “Global Warming” in the recent past, known as the Medieval Warm Period, they hated it enough that they tried to hide it infamously known as “ClimateGate”. Those Knights sure did have large Carbon “Hoof” prints!

Since this article is about climate change…global warming etc… Can I ask why this site does not cover flat earth and the obvious deceptions of NASA/space agencies? I believe I saw something about the challenger disaster a while back, but not much else. After all this is the ultimate deception, and clearly done to hide God. I am just wondering?

It’s all the “new economy” don’t ya’ know? People who collect welfare and food stamps manage to spend oodles of money to the extent that this babbling fool can buy huge private jets. Then he has the audacity to lecture his enablers on whitey’s use of resources and lifestyle.

Now he feels like a seer or something. Badly babbled Ebonic poetry doth not a philosopher make. Even one with his own airplane.

His big song was whining about how some girl didn’t “call me on my cellphone” for a booty call any more… now he’s all Captain Planet and a massive hypocrite at once, sheesh!
