Quote of the Day

Remember this when you’re at the voting booth on November 2!
Society in every state is a blessing, but government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one; for when we suffer or are exposed to the same miseries by a government, which we might expect in a country without government, our calamity is heightened by reflecting that we furnish the means by which we suffer.” –Thomas Paine, Common Sense, 1776

Great quote! Unfortunately, half the voters in this country would probably fail to understand it on a philosophical level.

Hey Gwen, This post I sent you is one that I think is being critically overlooked. Please re-post and send it to you friends.

  3. I’m starting to get a little concerned about the increasingly hard line taken toward our president and his economic ideas. In fact, just yesterday, the Democrats in Congress under the excellent leadership of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi offered a host of new ideas, all spelled out in clear, layman’s terms in this image. I think Harry Reid may have had significant influence on this design, given his tight Senatorial race with that nutjob Tea Party candidate.
And then the White House offered up their plan for the next two years- also depicted in an easy-to-understand visual. I’m happy to see that they have the courage of their convictions, and are planning to stay the course.

  4. There I go, back on the “moderator’s list”. 😉

  6. Thank you, Eowyn, for the pertinent quote from Thomas Paine. I believe Americans are understanding now that big government will make us fail and suffer!
