Deni Kamper reports for KLKY that Louisville Metro police are investigating an assault of pro-life activist Donna Durning outside Kentucky’s last remaining abortion clinic, which was captured on surveillance video.
Durning said that she had approached countless women outside abortion clinics over the last 23 years. On April 12, Durning approached a woman coming out of the EMW Women’s Surgical Center in Louisville.
As described by Durning: “I had a little card from Little Way Crisis pregnancy center, and I just offered it to her. And I said, ‘Honey, if you need to talk to anybody, there’s a number on here.’ I was there, as I am five days a week, talking to girls, offering them alternatives to abortion.”
But this encounter went differently. Durning said the woman came after her and threw her to the ground. Durning said: “I saw a lot of hatred in her face and, I’m not exaggerating, I saw the face of Satan in her eyes.”
Donna Durning is 82 years old. Below is a GIF I had made from the surveillance video posted on KLKY. Durning is dressed in a white top and dark pants; her assaulter is dressed all in black. After the woman pushed Durning onto the ground, she quickly got in her car and drove away.
Durning suffered a broken femur and a head injury. She underwent surgery and is now recovering in a rehabilitation center. She said she hopes the woman who assaulted her will be held responsible: “There literally are nails in my leg, but every day I get a little bit better. I’ll be back on the sidewalk!”
The EMW Women’s Surgical Center abortion clinic referred questions to the ACLU, but the ACLU said it represents the clinic in legal matters, but not this specific issue.
LMPD is investigating the incident as an assault and is working to identify the woman.
Micaiah Bilger reports for LifeNews.com that according to LiveAction, “Police officers were across the street at the time and came over as soon as they saw the attack. They took the abortion facility’s surveillance tapes. Witnesses wrote down the license plate number of the car Durning’s attacker left in.”
Meanwhile, San Francisco police are still looking for the person who viciously assaulted an 85-year-old prolifer at a San Francisco Planned Parenthood on March 19, 2019.
