Pray for America

A Way of Salvation for our Nation

By David Heeren*
This nation began with one of its greatest forefathers, George Washington, spending two hours every morning on his knees in prayer. A series of amazing events followed that could be called miracles, resulting in the American colonies’ liberation from British oppression.
The overriding issue we face today is: How much longer can our nation remain free unless we again adopt a resolute posture of entreaty before our God?
Most of us probably can’t spend as much time in prayer as Washington did, but if every patriot took a few minutes every day to pray humbly and fervently for the U.S.A., it could have more impact than all of the phone calls we have made to Washington, D.C.
God is faithful. He does not lie. He has promised (2 Chronicles 7:14):

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land.

Please share this thought with other patriotic Americans.

In it Heeren seeks to identify the sign of Jesus’ return described in Matthew 24:29-30. The second, published in 2009, is In His Steps Again, on persons who commit themselves to one year of living based on the theme what-would-Jesus-do, in a 21st century world of romance, adventure, danger and suspense.

I believe and know that prayer does change both events and material situations, so this is a Good Idea, to my way of thinking. So, I’m in, for — as mighty as we humans may believe we are — w/o God we are neither fully human nor even as mighty as we delude ourselves into believing!

I have been praying for this nation, but will pray more steadily now, and I will keep in mind the conditions of,

“will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways…”

And how. Please.

I pray every morning. I talk to the Lord throughout the day. He listens and hears all who seriously seek Him and have given their hearts to Him. We need to pray that the US wakes up to ALL of the attacks that are about to happen in force…. the muslims, the NSA’s shock troopers, all other government sponsored forces designed to create havoc and cause civil unrest, leading to martial law. And the threats from within are only a starting point to pray about. China hates us and wants to control or destroy us. We are being attacked from… Read more »

Can you be a believer in Christ and read all that’s going on and not pray? I ask this because I meet some Christians that seem to be checked out.

Thank you Dr. Eowyn for this meaningful and important post. Every day I pray for our country through singing the Divine Mercy Chaplet in front of Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself in the Blessed Sacrament. I ask Him to help our country, to guide our country every day. If I am ill, I say this prayer at home and pray for our country. We have much to be contrite for – the killing of thousands of innocent unborn children daily, for example.
