Caleb Clarke reports for Fox News that on June 18, 2019, during an interview with Australian talk show host Andrew Denton, pop singer Madonna said she wants a meeting with Pope Francis to tell him Jesus would support abortion.
The 60-year-old Madonna, who grew up Catholic, said: “Let’s talk about Jesus’ point of view about women. Let’s talk about it. Don’t you think Jesus would agree that a woman has the right to choose what to do with her body? I think [Pope Francis] would be open to having that conversation with me.”
In a sneak peek of her new single “God Control” earlier this week, Madonna also that “guns need to be made illegal.”
She told Rolling Stone that her childhood dream was to be a nun and that she wears Christian imagery because of her devotion to Catholicism: “I always feel some kind of inexplicable connection with Catholicism. It kind of shows up in all of my work, as you may have noticed.”
Meanwhile, senior-citizen Madonna’s “Madame X” tour that kicks off in New York City on Sept. 12 is off to a sluggish start, with hundreds of seats still available for most gigs after more than a month on the block. Four years ago, she was selling out shows at Madison Square Garden. Now, she’s struggling to sell out the much smaller BAM opera house in Brooklyn. (New York Post)
