Port Angeles mayor wants veteran memorial park artwork modified because soldiers are holding guns

Demorat Sissi Burch

The mayor of Port Angeles, Washington – Sissi Bruch – wants artwork at the Veterans Memorial Park modified. The reason? The two soldiers are holding guns. Oh the horror!

This memorial is dedicated to all veterans who have served our country in war and peace. The park, originally named Central Park, was renamed in 1986 in honor of those who served in all branches of the armed forces and all conflicts since the Civil War.

In a memo to the city council, the mayor states that there are two decorative outlines of soldiers with guns. Apparently there has been much objection to these two items.

It further states: “There have been many complaints regarding the two large solders with guns being used as decorative elements to this fence. Given that our nation is experiencing an outbreak in gun violence in our schools and our communities, it is easy to see why these elements have caused such concern. There are many other symbols that can be used to celebrate our Veterans that will be embraced by our community. Flags, eagles, and anchors could be used. Modifying the soldiers so that the guns are not there would also be less objectionable.

There’s a link to the memo here. The item is on the council’s Wednesday agenda.

MyNorthwest.com interviewed the artist. Read his take on this action here. (He believes the mayor has a “personal vendetta” against guns.)

You know what soldiers used in war and conflict? Guns!

If you are easily triggered by such facts that soldiers carry/use guns, maybe you shouldn’t leave your house.

Well now we know, the next war will be fought with anchors and eagles. What an idiot

Life must be so difficult for “woke” leftists like the aptly named mayor Sissi Bruch.

I hereby dare Sissi Bruch to make public the “many complaints” she has received. You know, Sissi, the written ones. I also dare her to make public all the documents sent to her which express the opposite view. I have a feeling “many complaints” is most likely less than ten, but Sissi… Prove Me Wrong!

Your request that she make public the “many complaints” is perfectly reasonable. Naturally Sissi (are you effing serious?) will do no such thing

Thank God for our “large soldiers with guns!” They stand between us and any number of very bad people.

Isn’t it just crazy that a gaggle of nut-jobs evidently inhabit this city council. Don’t they have anything more important to worry about than this. Very glad that this “problem” was taken off the agenda, because evidently there was a hue and cry over the removal of these depictions of US military members . . . which is just how it should be.

Well now Sissi… if you look close, those aren’t guns at all! One soldier is carrying a walkie talkie with a long antenna, only because pink cell phones don’t work out there. She is talking with her girlfriends. And the other girl is packing a tent pole so she can set up her tent, fully equipped with hair dryer and makeup mirror. Just because uniforms aren’t tight fitting fashion wear, its hard to grasp you assume those are men with guns! How utterly sexist of you! Perhaps you prefer the artist to be a male chauvinist pig and design silhouettes… Read more »
