Please sign petition to Catholic university against pro-abort speaker

The Catholic Church has been and remains staunchly pro-life.

The Church’s position on abortion is that it is an “intrinsic evil,” which means no extenuating circumstance or rationale can mitigate against the intentional killing of an unborn human being a mortal sin. In the words of the Church’s Catechism:

If anything in the object of the act is morally evil, then the act is ordered toward evil; it is then an intrinsically evil act. It is never moral to intentionally choose any intrinsically evil act, regardless of the intended end (the purpose or reason for choosing the act) and regardless of the circumstances (the reasonably anticipated consequences).

But a Catholic university in Maryland, Mount St. Mary’s University, actually has invited pro-abort Mark Shriver from the Kennedy clan with deceptive Kennedyish good-looks to be its commencement speaker.

Below is a message from TFP Student Action:

Pro-life students are bewildered.

Because Mount St. Mary’s University — a Catholic institution in Emmitsburg, Maryland — has picked notorious pro-abortion promoter Mark Shriver as its commencement speaker on May 11, 2019.

But this is why Mr. Shriver is NOT a role model for students:

  • NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland gave Mark Shriver a 100% approval rating for his pro-abortion record when he served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates.
  • In an interview with The Washington Post, Mr. Shiver said: “… I will continue to fight for a women’s right to choose [abortion] …”
  • Mr. Shriver is the CEO of Save the Children, a pro-contraception organization with ties to Planned Parenthood.

However, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has stated that the “Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”

So, please:

Urge Mount St. Mary’s to drop Mark Shriver like a hot potato and replace him with a commencement speaker who loves God and fights for the right to life.

Every pro-lifer is invited to join this peaceful protest.

According to Communist party insider Bella Dodd in her book “School Of Darkness” over 1200 Communist pedophiles/operatives were purposely sent into the Catholic Church to destroy it as well as thousands of innocent children.

“In the late 1920’s and 1930’s, directives were sent from Moscow to all Communist Party organizations. In order to destroy the [Roman] Catholic Church from within, party members were to be planted in seminaries and within diocesan organizations… I, myself, put some 1,200 men in [Roman] Catholic seminaries”. Let the person speak. No one has to attend, but do not begin the process of censoring who can say what.

agree 100%.We do not want the universities and other places ,to prevent free speech on conservatives or speakers that represent what we think is right. Why would we want to suppress others free speech?.just counter the speech with someone that can make the case for why he is wrong?.

Shriver can say all he wants in “civil” society aka the public square. He does NOT have to be invited or welcome onto a putative Catholic campus.

I was looking for a way to word that, you did it for me. The left blocks conservative voices from campuses. Do we want to be just like them? Let them speak.

The pro-infanticide agenda is more than adequately represented. It’s shoved in our faces and we don’t have the option of not attending. This is clearly an in-your-face provocation. A better venue for Mr Shriver to shill for his death cult would be hell

In a public setting, yes. A private group can invite or not invite anyone they want. The RCC is a private group.

Catholicism for almost 2,000 years has followed Christ’s teachings. Why on earth would a supposedly Christian institution of higher learning permit an advocate of child murder (and that’s what it is) to address the students and try to convince them of the benefits of killing babies? Christ entered the world as a baby. Mount St. Mary’s University has obviously been taken over by the dark side.

The parents should demand a faculty change or withdraw their children.

My comment was taken down from this site because the people who run it wanted everyone to sign a petition to suppress free speech. That is just what the left tries to do when they do not agree with the speaker. Now they will take this comment down also.just shows you what these people that are in charge of this site are up to..BUT keep this in mind,You can hide these comments but you can not stop the truth from winning. have a nice day

Signing a petition to ask Mt St. Mary’s to reconsider their choice for commencement speaker is hardly suppressing free speech. Maybe they will and maybe they won’t. If not I suspect it might have something to do with donations of money from the Kennedy clan, being that they are such devout Catholics. And they will eventually have to answer for it. And do we really have to “make the case” that killing babies and selling them for parts is morally wrong? Apparently so since it’s the law of the land and we have no choice in the matter. “you can… Read more »

You must have been rude in your expression because there is another comment above saying they believe that the speaker should be allowed to speak as well and there it has not been taken down. I believe in free speech, however pro abortion views are everywhere- it’s not like you can’t hear them everywhere you turn. Current legislation is favoring killing full term children of botched abortions outside the womb, and it goes on and on. I hardly think pro -abortion views are being stifled in the society. You can hear them everywhere. You don’t have to be on a… Read more »

You miss the point. Only the government can suppress free speech. A private group has the right to invite or not invite anyone to speak, according to the wishes of its members. Choosing to not invite someone who is in conflict with your basic beliefs is not suppression of free speech.

In a certain respect this is old news. I mean Catholic universities involved in actions that could be described as anything but Catholic. According to E Michael Jones himself he was fired from Notre Dame because of his anti- abortion/ pro life views, and that was a long time ago. Then we have Georgetown university willing to cover up the name of Christ when Obama spoke there.

Long and short of it…the “Mount” has always had a reputation as a windsock. I was on the faculty years ago and saw the school stifle any support for a candidate for governor, even though his son was a student at the school, because his “politics” were not acceptable to the prevailing media. The “University” has as its first mission to expand and get more grants and $$$. It has NO moral compass

Let the idiot talk. Just not at comencement. That should be reserved for a dynamic speaker with the message of what it means to have gained the education that will serve you in the world, support your family and community and plan for the future. They don’t need to see or hear partisan idiology from any direction. The message must not be to one demographic or another or to any demographic over another. The left is the party of identity politics, set asides, favoring one group over another while demonizing the former to the latter. And theyv’e already ruined our… Read more »

I concur that persons of divergent views should have a chance to speak about and discuss their opinions in a free country with a constitutional First Amendment such as the U.S. has–but that commencement would not be the appropriate occasion for this speaker at that institution if that institution lives by and stands behind its professed values and beliefs.

No one is suggesting that the idiot shouldn’t be allowed to talk and make his pro-baby murdering views known. I think he probably has far more options for doing so than, say, someone preaching the word of God. But there is a time and place for everything. As you say, not a commencement. A commencement speaker should reflect the general positions of the university. If they do in this case, so be it. But if that is the case Mt St. Mary’s might as well change it’s name to the Satanic Temple. I think that name is already taken though

Free speech has been used by the Supreme Court to give immense power to the wealthiest members of our society.

83% of Americans believe in God and angels. You’d have to do a poll of old ladies in Sicily to get numbers like that.

Now when and where have I heard this tune played before… oh YES, silly me. I hear it all the time, coming from the left, in their attempt to shut down free speech because it doesn’t comport with the things they believe. So shall I surmise that the right has decided to jump on that same tyrannical band wagon? The one that’s headed straight to hell on earth? I know not of which individual or group ran with this spectacularly stupid idea, but I will take comfort in the very high probability that in the end you will get EXACTLY… Read more »

No one is suggesting that “free speech” be shut down. Except the raging woke on the left. This petition is only a suggestion that Mt St Marys reconsider their choice for commencement speaker for someone who more closely aligns with the purported values of the RC church. They have the “right” to have anyone they want. They can get Lady Gaga for all I care. The baby-murdering Luciferian left is free to push their agenda, as the satanist Cuomo did in NY, celebrating infanticide by lighting up the “Freedom Tower” in pink. With public money. God forbid we should deny… Read more »
