Please pray for Auntie Lulu

Auntie Lulu is a longtime FOTM reader and commenter, and an integral member of our blog family.

I noticed that she had not commented for weeks, since last Christmas Eve.

So I sent her a “wellness check” email, but received no response.

Really worried, I called her this morning and, to my great relief, she answered the phone.

Auntie Lulu said she’s been feeling really low, with an imminent hip surgery and hassled by the “communist” Portland city government.

But she has more than the ordinary blues that all of us undergo now and then, tossed about by the vississitudes of life.

Auntie Lulu may be clinically depressed, given her symptoms of listlessness, loss of appetite, and sleep irregularities, especially feeling tired even after a night’s sleep.

I urged her to get an appointment with her doctor ASAP.

In the meantime, Auntie Lulu asks us to pray for her.

Please pray that the dark cloud is lifted from our friend, and that she regains her health and optimism.

Thank you,

~Eowyn

Dr Eowyn, I have often joked on here about “having availability” but that is in fact the case. I am involuntarily retired, all dressed up with clinical acumen and no place to go. Clinical depression can be excrutiating and disabling and while seeing a doctor is generally good advice they often refer to “mental health professionals” and that can be like walking into quicksand. Their interventions often do more harm than good, especially for older people. I would be delighted to offer my services to Lulu in the form of advocacy and input and guidance to help her navigate this… Read more »

Prayers going up for Auntie Lulu. May God hold and keep you in the palm of his hand as you heal and lift any roadblocks in your way.
Trust and have faith in his plan it is what is meant to be.
Portland can get gloomy during the winter months which doesn’t help mood.
I have found that it is imperative to have sufficient levels of Vitamin D and K to keep depression at bay.
Sunlight in any form is also of benefits as it helps us process those vitamins that contribute to mental health.

Mistears Mom,God Bless you for your prayers, and I will get some Vit D and K. You certainly do know how gloomy Portland gets, and having the short days of winter sure don’t help.

Auntie Lulu, you are now on my prayer list for complete healing both emotionally and physically. I’ve had a hip replacement and it’s been one of the best things ever! I pray your surgery and re-hab will give you pain free mobilization to help you get moving again.

Auntie Lulu has been very nice to me, and I was wondering the other day where she has been, as I haven’t seen her comments here on FOTM for a while now. As someone who has suffered from depression for much of his life, I can tell you the causes of depression can be threefold. It can be the abuse or persecution of other people that causes it. Or it can be the way one has lived his life that can cause it. (This has been the case with me. We are rational creatures, and our poor choices can come… Read more »

Auntie Lulu, I pray that your hip surgery leads to you getting better, so you can get back to living the way you want, and hopefully, the surgery will also result in you feeling better in other parts of your life as well, and you can continue contributing here in no time.

Dear Auntie Lulu Each day my Bible apps send scriptures to my smart phone. One of these apps gave me this today: Psalm 107:13-14 ESV. “Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in sunder.” I am ignorant of much in this world. But I know with absolute certainty that God is faithful and that he keeps his promises. I have lost count of the number of times that He has brought me out of darkness… Read more »

Dear Auntie Lulu,

I’m sorry to hear things have gotten you down lately. You’ve got to take care of yourself and know that you’ve got plenty of people on your side. May God bless you and take care of you through your upcoming surgery.

I’ll pray to Jesus for her. I pray that His Spirit is with her during this time. Maybe she feels lonely and isolated, with all the weirdos in her area.

May the Light of the Lord shine in her heart, keep the faith Auntie Lulu, God is with you, pray to Him, for His comfort, for the peace that surpasses all understanding. May the Lord be with you, trust in Him and He will not forsake you.

Auntie LuLu—please come back to us full time. I’ve just returned to FOTM after a long absence due to family deaths and family medical issues AND, most of all, the technical issues enforced upon this site that I had to figure out how to circumnavigate in my “spare time” as I worked full time then continued to field these family medical emergencies/deaths, last arrangements. I was soooooo looking forward to hearing from you again! We are so often on the same page! I know we still are! I was so “empty” without FOTM over these stressful days. Don’t give up… Read more »
