Please pray for Auntie Lulu

Fellowship of the Minds (FOTM) is more than a political-cultural-religious blog. We are also a community — a fellowship of like-minded Conservatives and Christians in these dark days.

Certainly, our readers’ loyalty and support provided the much-needed buoys in the eight days after WordPress’ dishonorable take-down until FOTM was restored with another host server.

See “Fellowship of the Minds is back!

A vital member of our fellowship is Auntie Lulu, whose comments I look forward to for her insight and wisdom, and whose absence you may have noticed. Alma did. So I emailed Lulu a “wellness check”. This is her reply:

My Dear FOTM family. I just got home from the hospital about an hour ago. I was in for four days. In the Emergency Room, I was told I was in kidney failure, and would probably have to be on kidney dialysis the rest of my life–it was rather sobering to hear. Thank goodness, after having a CT scan, they found that I had kidney stones blocking each of my ureters going into the bladder. They were able to break one up and get it to pass, and the other one they manipulated.  I have a stint in, which will be coming out in two to four weeks. At that time, they will address breaking up the rest of the kidney stones.

I must say, during the last five days, I certainly missed checking in on everyone. Things should be back to normal now.

Thank you so much for caring enough to check on me.

My Best Wishes to you,

Auntie Lulu

Please say a prayer for Auntie Lulu.

Thank you and God bless you!

  10. AUNTIE ~

First of all, KNOW that I will absolutely pray for you! You’re one of my very favorite regulars here!

Once this current problem is fully resolved — the kidney stones are broken up / dissolved / gone from your system — I have a suggestion for you that I believe will prevent kidney stones from forming again in the future:

I had a kidney stone once, maybe 16 or 17 years ago. THAT was no fun! And I learned at that time that once a person has had kidney stones they are MORE susceptible to them in the future. Well, I knew I did not want to experience that again, so I did a little research on it.

I am no fan of most mainstream things, including Big Pharma, so the first thing I did was look “outside the box” for an answer. And I learned that Magnesium is very good at preventing kidney stones from forming. And B Vitamins taken in conjunction with Magnesium helps it to more effectively do what it does.

So, since my first experience with a kidney stone, I’ve been taking 500 mg of Magnesium along with two tablets or capsules of a Vitamin B-50 complex TWICE A DAY. And, thank God, I’ve not had a kidney stone form since that one all those years ago. So, that’s Doctor Stephen’s prescription for ya!

Since the “new” FOTM has come online, I do not receive Email notifications of new article postings nor of new comment postings, and I have to re-input all of my information (Name, Email, Website) every time I submit a comment. That’s one of the reasons I have been more scarce in these parts lately, but I will remember to check back in to see how you’re doing Auntie! But be assured my prayers are with you, M’Dear!

    • I’ve had 3 stones in the last 10 years, none in the last 3 years.

My doctor told me that at any given time, I’ll have maybe 4-5 stones forming in both kidneys, but they’re microscopic. I only went to the hospital for the first one. After the second one, a client of mine recommended drinking diluted raw, unfiltered Bragg’s apple cider vinegar – to dissolve the stone. 4 teaspoons per pint of water, sweetened with liquid stevia to taste. I drank it maybe twice a week, then the third stone came. After that, I drink it 5 times per week now.

I’ll have to look into what you’re taking…

      • There is an old drink from american history, its called “Switchel” and is apple cider vinegar-based, (add organic/clean maple syrup and/or honey, and a little bit of powdered ginger to taste, and a bit of good clean water to moderate the strength.) you might want to give it a shot. I see also you’re another person who remembers it as bragg’s, even though the labels now say “bragg”, which is a known “mandela effect” type thing. (I suspect intelligence agencies trolling the citizenry for that, myself.)

        Hope it helps.

      • Jackie . . . I will get some Bragg’s apple cider vinegar and stevia. Anything that can be done to stop or slow-down a reoccurrence of this problem is certainly a gift from God.

    • Stephen . . . thank you for the suggestion. I got the necessary vitamins and have started on this regime. It is wonderful to have information from those who have actually used the items which are being suggested. Many thanks.

Prayers sent Auntie Lulu! Here’s to happy healing and speedy recovery.

  12. I noticed Aunties absence too. I am so grateful that her kidney condition is not what they first suspected! My son just had this same procedure done- the blasting of an 8 millimeter stone in his ureter and stints placed for 12 days. A week from now, they have to do the kidney stone in the other kidney that is blocking his other ureter. So I have a good idea what Auntie is going through. Having those stints in can cause a lot of spasms and pain and it is not a walk in the park- but better than having you ureters blocked off!
Auntie- I pray all goes well for you , and that you will soon be looking at this nasty bump in the road in your rear view mirror.

  13. Auntie Lulu, Best wishes to you, along with our prayers. We hope your recovery is swift and complete, and that your restricted routines in the meantime are merely an opportunity to accomplish other rewarding things that you have wanted to do.

  14. I am so sorry to hear this, but at least its kidney stones and not renal failure! Rest up, Auntie Lulu and Get Well Soon!

  15. I am so pleased to have some news of Auntie Lulu, as I have really missed her wise comments.
Take care and get well soon. I am sure your guardian angel is right beside you. God bless you.

  16. My prayers and very best wishes.

  17. Get well soon, Auntie, and lots of prayers your way, too.

I just had the fourth procedure on my foot, and I am nowhere near out of the woods just yet, as I could still lose it.

Thankfully your situation will very likely turn out far better than any of mine have recently, as it appears I am putting a couple of Wellstar employee’s kids through college.

  18. I’ve been corresponding with Auntie Lulu for several months now, she is quite a wonderful lady.

I’ve had a number of people tell me that having to pass stones is one of the most excruciating pains, right at the top with lung cancer, that a person can endure. Now imagine her fortitude and strength of character that she is able to write as calmly and self-possessed as she is. I’m not sure if I could do it!

at any rate, now that I know about her situation, I will not cease thinking and praying for her until I hear from her that she has recovered. I also share all the sentiments that the people above have written about this most remarkable woman.

    • Joseph . . . My heart is gladdened by your sincere kind words. When I was in the ER, and the doctor told me I was in kidney failure and would be on dialysis the rest of my life (which is something I just don’t either want to do or plan on doing) my only thought was to come home and get “my affairs in order” so that there would be a smooth transition of the dispersion of my worldly goods at my departure. I was more concerned about that, than I was at the thought of leaving the Earth. I am so very glad to know that I may have more time than left here than what I was planning for.

I was rather happy when I returned home, my dear nephew had washed up all my dishes (I had rather a pile of them to do, but just was not feeling well enough to tackle the job before going to the hospital,) and there on my kitchen table was a beautiful vase of flowers. Since I have no children, I am grateful for how good he is to me.

  19. Auntie Lulu – I pray that it’s nothing worse than the stones, which is already horribly painful. I know you’re not out of the woods yet. You’ve already displayed incredible strength, and I pray God give your more to get through this ordeal.

  20. God bless and get well soon.

  21. Our prayers and in our thoughts this night.

  22. Whew–prayers for you, Auntie, and we hold your Drs. and nurses up to prayer, too. Thanks GOODNESS this was medically addressesed without the most dire outcome that was first feared!

  23. You’ll be up and about in no time Lulu. Sorry for your luck. I hope you’re feeling better soon.

  24. God Bless you, Auntie Lulu. I’m so sorry you are having to go through this. I send you prayers for no more pain, quick healing and a speedy return to the community. I love your thoughtful posts too!
I was on a road trip years ago. On the return leg home, we had to stop a a little clinic off of an interstate in VA. While waiting to see a doctor, the pain was so excruciating, I had to pace outside so my moaning wouldn’t disturb the people inside. I actually had visions of throwing myself in front of a car to end it all…LOL! Auntie, I pray you never have to experience that extreme pain EVER again.

  25. Thankfully stones are easier to treat these days, as apparently there is some sonic device technology that can be used to smash the stones in the body, (think opera singer and a water glass) without doing too much harm to the surrounding tissues.

I wonder though, what is the mechanism in a healthy body that prevents stones from forming, and how can this system be repaired in folks to ensure that stones don’t form? Is it a result of the body having excess calcium (or a mix of toxins that the calcium then gets bonded to, etc.?) without other necessary components to bond to, thus it clumps, so to speak? Is it a result of too much acid in the body making other materials soluble that shouldn’t which then accumulates, or a result of too much base in the body causing the stuff to form a stone? I’m no doctor, so the best I can do on this is guess. (Anyone have any thoughts?)

Here’s hoping she comes out of this well, it already sounds like its a much better situation than initially though, thankfully.

  26. I just wish to send my love and gratitude to each and everyone of you. Thank you so much for your prayers and heartfelt wishes for my complete recovery. I cannot tell you how very much I appreciate it.

  27. Glad you are doing better Auntie Lulu.
