PETA calls for end of “anti-animal language”

Actions speak louder than words, PETA.

From MyFoxChicago: Old sayings may seem harmless, but, according to PETA, they could actually be viewed as anti-animal language and normalize animal cruelty.

The animal-rights group is pushing for “animal-friendly idioms” and provided a list of suggestions people can use to avoid offending vegans, PETA said. The group tweeted the alternative sayings Tuesday morning.

For instance, rather than saying, “bring home the bacon,” PETA suggested saying, “bring home the bagels.” Instead of saying “kill two birds with one stone,” they suggested, “feed two birds with one scone.”

“Words matter, and as our understanding of social justice evolves, our language evolves along with it,” PETA said in its tweet. “Just as it became unacceptable to use racist, homophobic, or ableist language, phrases that trivialize cruelty to animals will vanish as more people begin to appreciate animals for who they are and start ‘bringing home the bagels’ instead of the bacon.”

  1. Hey, isn’t “Bring home the bagel” cultural-appropriation and anti-Semitic?

    The Left really are insane.

    • Correct, Doctor. When we goyim nosh on a bagel, especially one with lox, it’s cultural appropriation. Oy. Oh but wait! Wouldn’t refusing to patronize Noah’s Bagels play into the hands of the BDS movement? We seem to be on the horns of a dilemma.

  2. Ummm…bagels and scones sound really good. I think I will get me some, along with a side of bacon.

  3. Where does BULLSHIT come in on that list??

  4. Personally, I think we SHOULD feed bagels to pigs. It will make them gain weight faster. Then, when they’re really fat, we can bring home the pig’s bacon, fry it, up, and eat it, along with some chicken babies cooked over medium.

I am a 1) Secondhand Vegetarian and 2) Proud Member of PETA.

    1) Cattle, chicken and pigs eat plants. I eat beef, chicken and pork.

    2) PETA, as stated by earlier posters….. People Eating Tasty Animals.

  7. It’s already been shown that PETA actually kills more animals than it saves.
It’s been a lifetime of witnessing insane behavior, and WOW am I sick of it. But as George Carlin said, “When you’re born into this world, you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a ringside seat!”

  8. I know where they’re coming from. I’ve wanted to get rid of the words “manhole, “manslaughter”, “manicure”, and “manure” for years.

  9. Better hope we don’t catch you eating cats in our neighborhood, or we are liable to feed you to the mountain lions

The problem with PETA is they seem to be a PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATION using the front of animal rights, which most good people actually support (the policies that make sense)-but time and time again I see them ASSOCIATING animal rights memes with political statements that have nothing to do with animal welfare

  10. this country is going to the dogs

  11. Stupid sayings from stupid people.

Why would you want to feed a fed horse? You feed the unfed ones because the others have been fed.

    • And what if you do beat a dead horse. The horse doesn’t care. He’s dead(oh crap, I mean it’s dead.) beside, the meat will be nice and tender tha way. Hope it’s being served with bacon.

  12. Obviously we need a “language approval committee”. There can be no greater sin than to offend. These people need to support the space program in the certain hope that they can all go to Uranus and start a new society.

  13. And yet PETA has yet to condemn the horrible manner in which animals are slaughtered by the Muslims. As I understand it, the Muslims think that the meat tastes better when the animals throat is cut and the animal is left to bleed to death.

  14. I noticed we have one person here who has no sense of humor and “Thumbs-down’ed several comments. Whoever you are,it must SUCK to be YOU.
    Have a nice day.

  15. Roast two birds over one fire.
    Barbecue the guinea pig.
Don’t waste a dead horse, eat it.
    Fry up the bacon.
Butcher the bull and eat well for a year.

  16. This from a group who is anti-animal themselves (see here: http://www.nathanwinograd.com/snoping-snopes/ which also has the bonus of showing snopes to be a propaganda operation.) and is “breedocidist”, specifically for Pit Bulls. Perhaps the citizenry need to demand that PETA be banned, instead.

  17. PETA – People Eating Tasty Animals. The people must have blood clots for brains. Their stupidity is beyond belief. If they think they can stop me from using any of those phrases, the have another think coming, What morons.

  18. More buttercups forcing thier opinions on people. My bacon is offended by bagels. I rather feed myself with “two birds on one plate” but you have to kill them first. Also Vegetarian really means “bad hunter”

  19. These people are nutz. There are people around the world who want to Kill the USA and eliminate Israel. And they are worried about this?
Pardon the pun, “but there are bigger fish to fry”

  20. I’m a vegaterian once removed. Grass is vegatation. Cows eat Grass. Cows are concentrated vegatebles. I eat Cows.
Food, Milk, Fertalizer, Flammable Gas. What else do you need?

    • That’s a good point, Also most people are cellophane hunters. They prefer it neatly packaged.

Not to change the subject. They forgot classic ones like…
Spank the monkey or choke the chicken. Explain those Peta…

  21. I’ll speak whatever language I damn well please – and I probably do more for animals than they do – I feed up to a dozen squirrels & dozens of sparrows & other birds every day.

  22. So how should we now refer to all those stray animals PETA euthanizes every year?
