Osama bin Laden Killed by U.S. Strike

Story developing…President Obama to speak soon.
Via ABC News: Osama bin Laden, hunted as the mastermind behind the worst-ever terrorist attack on U.S. soil, has been killed, sources told ABC News.
His death brings to an end a tumultuous life that saw bin Laden go from being the carefree son of a Saudi billionaire, to terrorist leader and the most wanted man in the world.
Over at Fox News: President Obama is expected to deliver a statement from the White House Sunday night to discuss the major development. Sources said bin Laden was killed by a U.S. bomb a week ago. The U.S. had been waiting for the results of a DNA test to confirm his identity.
Congratulations to our US military, President Bush, President Obama and all of USA!

Wow! Thanks for the heads up, DCG!

  2. I hope it was painful.
And I hope every one of his 72 virgins look like Helen Thomas.
I bet he’s hanging out with Hitler, Stalin, and Mao in Hell.

  3. Yes! 🙂

  4. Just watched President Obama. He spoke about the events of 9/11 and the victims. Talked about us being united as one American family after the event.
He thanked the military for their tireless work to capture the terrorists. Shortly after taking office, Obama directed the killing of bin Laden to be the top priority. He got a lead last August and met w/military to discuss. He authorized operation to get bin Laden last week. After a firefight the military killed bin Laden and took his body.
Obama reiterated that we are not at war with Islam just as President Bush did. Obama has spoken with Pakistani counterparts.
“Thanks to the men that carried out this operation. To families that lost loved ones on 9/11 – we have never forgotten your lose. Let us think back to the sense of unity that prevailed back then. Testament to the greatness of our country.”
Wow, Obama ends his speech with: let us not forget we are one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. May God bless you.

  5. I find the timing of this to be suspicious. 2012 campaign has already begun….
Listening to Obama’s speech makes me want to puke. He’s suddenly transformed into an American patriot: “great country,” “one nation under God,” “may God bless the United States of America,” blah, blah, blah…. He makes me sick.

    • yep, he’s in full on campaign mode right now – gag.

    • lowtechgrannie

I saw there is already a Youtube of his speech online. To tell you the truth, I can’t stand the sight or sound of him so I didn’t watch it.
I’m glad Osama’s gone; but, it won’t change anything as far as all this War on Terror goes. We’ve still got Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya on our plates with the rest of the Middle East ready to ignite. Not a time to rejoice.

      • ltg,
I couldn’t watch or listen, either.
I am at the point where I have to change radio stations when they start playing his sound bites.

    • No wonder the b-cert came out now.

  6. Thanks, Eowyn, good to know I’m not the only one who felt that way. There was an awful lot of “I decided…” “I directed…” “I authorized…” “I… I… I…” It sounded like it took Obama to get it done. I beg to differ.
I’m proud of the military personnel who did their duty, as they have been doing since this whole miserable business began, as they have always done. Presidents come and go, but the military continues to do their job no matter who POTUS is.

    • Yep Judy….our militarydeserve a big big hug 😉
Let us not forget those that gave their lives in pursuit of this animal.

  7. Obummer’s timing is suspicious. I still say trust but verify. I want to see proof! Remember the Youtube videos?
Either way….I want to say a great big THANK YOU to our MILITARY!

  8. thanks for the updates Eowyn!

  9. Indeed, watching the compassionate One pimp the 3000 dead Americans on 911 made me truly ill.
Then to watch the Facebook flashmob cheering at the White House was even more disgusting…and out of touch…and surreal.
Obama will try to work this, of course, along with the death of Khadaffi’s son and grandchildren and take the mob in Times Square as his faithful supporters….sort of like the crowds cheering Hitler in the stadiums.

  10. Several reporters on twitter are saying it was the Navy SEALS that got him. They rock!

  11. Adolf Hitler’s death was announced to the world on May 01, 1945 and now 66 years to the day, Osama Bin Laden’s death is announced to the world on May o1, 2011. Coincidence?

  12. Candance Moore

I thought I was the only one who was suspicious about a few things. That’s why I love the fellowship.
He was close to Islamabad? We went inside pakisan to get him?
Thank God he’s dead, and thank our military for being brave enough to get it done. Now let’s see what the next few days bring. I’m really not trying to be some partisan complainer but for some reason I don’t have a good feeling. Can’t put my finger on it.

    • Candance – I too am suspicious. Tonight I celebrate bin Laden’s justice. But am holding my breath as to what happens next…and praying that our military stay safe.

    • cd,
I am having a hard time swallowing the idea somebody with the cash Osama had access to wasn’t able to get in front of a video camera for nearly nine full years.
Osama loved nothing more than to video tape himself threatening to blow up this or that, and packing it off to his friends Al Jazeera, and suddenly those videos stopped coming.
The question I have is, why did they stop?
Something about this just ain’t compootin’ fer me.

    • Same here. I’ll accept it but with a steaming side order of skepticism. Things like this have major Political significance. Keep both eyes open and don’t stop asking questions.

  13. Thomas Morato

Hats off to our fine soldiers! Too bad they had to silence him forever… I wanted him tried and his testimony made public record. I have many questions about 9/11.
Bin Laden dead and an allusive long-form surfaces within the same week. An election must be on the horizon. I’ll vote for our military all day long… Obama, not so much.

    • Eowyn,
Hmm, last week it was the release of yet another COLB. This week it was the “death” of Osama.
Something about all this just doesn’t feel right to me.

  14. Saw this on facebook:
Now I lay me down to sleep, one less terrorist this world does keep.
With all my heart I give my thanks…to those in uniform regardless of rank.
You serve our country and serve it well with humble hearts your stories tell.
So as I rest my weary eyes, while freedom rings, our flag still flies.
You give your all, do what you must. With God we live, in God we trust …. Amen

  15. I infer.Americans will may be more attacks by terrorist ,special who oversea .

  16. I’m with you Eowyn, the United States Military deserves all the credit. God Bless all of our fine young men and women.
