Obama Sends 100 US Troops to Uganda to Help Combat Lord’s Resistance Army
ABC News’ Jake Tapper and Luis Martinez report:
Two days ago President Obama authorized the deployment to Uganda of approximately 100 combat-equipped U.S. forces to help regional forces “remove from the battlefield” – meaning capture or kill – Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony and senior leaders of the LRA.
The forces will deploy beginning with a small group and grow over the next month to 100. They will ultimately go to Uganda, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the permission of those countries.
The president made this announcement in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, Friday afternoon, saying that “deploying these U.S. Armed Forces furthers U.S. national security interests and foreign policy and will be a significant contribution toward counter-LRA efforts in central Africa.”
He said that “although the U.S. forces are combat-equipped, they will only be providing information, advice, and assistance to partner nation forces, and they will not themselves engage LRA forces unless necessary for self-defense.”
The president said that for more than two decades the LRA has been responsible for having “murdered, raped, and kidnapped tens of thousands of men, women, and children in central Africa” and continues to “commit atrocities across the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and South Sudan that have a disproportionate impact on regional security.”

  1. How much more disresepct is this son of a whore going to have show the American people before we are un in arms, and put this moron in chains? He is bound and determined to destroy America, does ANYBODY CARE?
    Semper Fi.

  2. How come the left isn’t marching up to the WH? They’d go ballistic if Bush did this…yet Skippy has us involved in more wars than Bush and they protest Wall Street. Sigh I will never understand them…

  3. absolutely unnecessary, the illegal muslim/communist fraud is out of control. go to patriotsunion.org and read “National Call to Action” Major General Paul Vallely.

  4. I trust nothing that Zero does and I am highly suspicious of this move in Africa. I read that in the past six months the LRA has been less violent than it was previously and also that the dictator currently there is US supported…I do not truly understand this situation but I am highly suspicious of “why there?, why now? ”
Zero doesn’t dare touch Iran….what about Yemen?
I smell rats, I smell something bad….but I don’t know what it is…who is it benefiting?
Zero has certainly not become an altruist.

  5. Barry is showing his true colors the more desperate he becomes. Ignoring the Constitutional Process he looks more and more like the small time Dictator akin to Jim Jones (Jonestown) who conned over 900 followers to kill themselves. He was probably having a “party” with the only friends he has (Hollywood types like Clooney and Penn) who urged him to straighten out Joseph Kony. “No need to discuss it with Congress, Dude!”

  6. We have seen this movie before.
    It was called Vietnam.

  7. He just loooves to spend other people’s money. There is no excuse to stretch our troops so thin for no real good reason. And it is ‘their’ lives on the line once again, not his…
    I agree w/ Artist… something isn’t right here… hmm…

  8. This is not the first time that the US has sent US military advisors to Uganda to help with the kill/capture of Joseph Kony. President Bush did the same thing in 2008, and provided $1 million in supplies for the Ugandan army, resulting in an abortive attack on Kony’s camp in the Congo on Dec. 14, 2008. Why didn’t you people complain about it back then? Was Bush being disrespectful to the American people? The US has been providing vast amounts of money to the Ugandan army for decades. Why didn’t you complain then? So, when Obama continues past policies of the Bush administration, it is suddenly evil???

    • What Sagebrush said.
Before you hurl accusatory stink bombs at us, try — just try — to look at how long Fellowship of the Minds has been in existence. Unless, of course, you’re a certifiable idiot and cannot perform even simple tasks.
