“By their actions, you will know them.” -Matthew 7:15
The Occupy Wall Street movement is turning violent and feral.
Occupy Oakland had violent clashes with police on November 3. Last Friday, Nov. 4, Occupy D.C. protesters assaulted a 76-year-old grandma and a handicapped woman in a wheelchair. Yesterday, Nov. 7, Occupy San Diego attacked a pair of street vendors because they stopped giving the protesters free food.
CBS Los Angeles reports from San Diego, November 7, 2011, that the street cart vendors were forced to shut down their businesses after Occupy protesters vandalized their carts, marking the covers with graffiti and smearing the carts with urine and blood.
KNX 1070′s Tom Reopelle reports that the coffee and hot dog carts were located in Civic Center Plaza, the same location as the Occupy San Diego protesters who had settled into the plaza Oct. 7 and set up a tent city that police had twice taken down.
Coffee cart owner Linda Jenson and hot dog cart operators Letty and Pete Soto said they initially had provided free food and drink to the demonstrators, but when they stopped, the protesters became violent.
San Diego city Councilman Carl DeMaio said the protesters then threw bodily fluids at the carts: “Both carts have had items stolen, have had their covers vandalized with markings and graffiti, as well as one of the carts had urine and blood splattered on it.” The damages will likely require at least a complete cleaning if not a replacement of the cart covers.
In addition to the attacks, the vendors also said they recently received death threats.
A fundraiser for the vendors was held last night in the Gas Lamp district in San Diego.
