Obama’s stealth gun-control by driving gun sellers out of business

HitlerIn the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre hoax, the Obama regime and Congressional Democrats made every effort to effectuate gun control on the federal level — to no avail.

So the POS is now going the stealth route by driving gun manufacturers and retailers out of business via choking off their sales and bank credit.

Kelly Riddell reports for The Washington Times, May 18, 2014:

Gun retailers say the Obama administration is trying to put them out of business with regulations and investigations that bypass Congress and choke off their lines of credit, freeze their assets and prohibit online sales.

Since 2011, regulators have increased scrutiny on banks’ customers. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in 2011 urged banks to better manage the risks of their merchant customers who employ payment processors, such as PayPal, for credit card transactions. The FDIC listed gun retailers as “high risk” along with porn stores and drug paraphernalia shops.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department has launched Operation Choke Point, a credit card fraud probe focusing on banks and payment processors. The threat of enforcement has prompted some banks to cut ties with online gun retailers, even if those companies have valid licenses and good credit histories.

“This administration has very clearly told the banking industry which customers they feel represent ‘reputational risk’ to do business with,” said Peter Weinstock, a lawyer at Hunton & Williams LLP. “So financial institutions are reacting to this extraordinary enforcement arsenal by being ultra-conservative in who they do business with: Any companies that engage in any margin of risk as defined by this administration are being dropped.

A Justice Department representative said the agency is conducting several investigations that aim to hold accountable banks “who are knowingly assisting fraudulent merchants who harm consumers.”

“We’re committed to ensuring that our efforts to combat fraud do not discourage or inhibit the lawful conduct of these honest merchants,” the Justice Department said in a May 7 blog post.

But gun retailers say their businesses are being targeted in the executive branch’s efforts:

  • T.R. Liberti, owner and operator of Top Gun Firearms Training & Supply in Miami, has felt the sting firsthand. Last month, his local bank, BankUnited N.A., dumped his online business from its service. An explanatory email from the bank said: “This letter in no way reflects any derogatory reasons for such action on your behalf. But rather one of industry. Unfortunately your company’s line of business is not commensurate with the industries we work with.
  • Black Rifle Armory in Henderson, Nevada, had its bank accounts frozen this month as the bank tried to determine whether any of Black Rifle’s online transactions were suspicious.
  • In 2012, Bank of America suddenly dropped the 12-year account of McMillan Group International, a gun manufacturer in Phoenix, even though the company had a good credit history, the owner said. Gun parts maker American Spirit Arms in Scottsdale, Arizona, received similar treatment by Bank of America, the country’s largest banking institution. “This seems to be happening with greater frequency and to many more dealers,” said Joe Sirochman, owner of American Spirit Arms. “At first, it was the bigger guys — gun parts manufacturers or high-profile retailers. Now the smaller mom-and-pop shops are being choked out, and they need their cash to buy inventory. Freezing their assets will put them out of business.

After McMillan Group owner Kelly McMillan publicized Bank of America’s action on his Facebook account, he found that thousands of small gun-shop owners across the country were in the same situation. Banks were either dropping them, freezing their accounts or refusing to process their online sales, so he opened a credit card processing company for the gun industry called McMillan Merchant Solutions.

“Four generations of my family have been in this industry. This is my way to give back,” said Mr. McMillan, adding that many of his customers were denied banking access because of the nature of their business. “This is an attempt by the federal government to keep people from buying guns and a way for them to combat the Second Amendment rights we have. It’s a covert way for them to control our right to manufacture guns and individuals to buy guns.”

  2. Well this seems a bit obvious, he’s trying to crack down on the legal gun industry to amp up the illegal gun industry thanks tot he data he pulled during the “fast and furious” bit, thus my guess is he wants illegal arms trading to increase, another way to provide “justification” against the citizenry for a “civil war” scenario. He may even turn a profit on the whole thing as well… since people who are continuing to fall for the government scares of control will be driven to get guns somewhere, even if its from black market dealers, and when the legitimate businesses are pushed out of business,t hat not only expands the black market for that particular item, but makes them the “only game in town” so to speak. The son of subud is up to the usual nefarious tricks in service to the puppets of evil who sign his paycheck. Once again I’m going to say to other readers, get books on how to do/make/repair things, avoid books that just make a front of making things, that usually include in the instructions “go here buy this” or “get this from this industry” such books are a farce, and shouldn’t be considered very useful… a book that tells you “make x metal out of x rocks in order to make car part x in forge that you make in previous chapter y” is much more beneficial. If you find something decent in one of the “dependent” books, that’s good, but the ones that cover in more detail how to do/make/repair things are likely to be better. If the Cubans can do it to keep their cars left over from the 50’s running, then so can anyone else. Finally, get knowledge in strategy and tactics, that you will know the tricks of the intelligence spooks and military etc. and won’t fall for their ruses or trojan horses. “the book of five rings”, “art of war”, julius caesar’s military notes, etc. If God/Christ be willing, the deception of the puppets of evil will not come to fruition, pray for his guidance in all these things.

  3. Is there any chance of success with class action suits against executive orders, etc., imposed by an Indonesian citizen raised as a Muslim in an Islamic military dictatorship? Does he want to be the military dictator of the United States of America?
If Republicans don’t take the Senate, they will have no excuse.

  4. He’s using the same plan for firearms as for Healthcare and food production-legislate them all out of business, after which the Government will take charge of them and “allow” select Americans to work to make them heavily regulated,Government owned and (mis)managed money-makers for the use of the upper echelon.

  5. Obama, Obama, Uber Alles!

  6. Crossbows and Whamo sling shots (with ball bearings) enable us to engage in silence, and should in any event be kept in reserve.

  7. “High risk”… so what? As long as the people deposit plenty of legal money in the bank for it loan out, it doesn’t matter. (Oh, that’s right, the current generation of bank managers and executives leaders is politically correct and doesn’t think… somehow being PC will make them more money or something.)

  8. I hate to say it, but we have all but lost our America.

And the truly sad part is, most of the dumbMass sheeple are utterly oblivious to it.

Worse still, the Kenyan mullah comrade Dear Ruler has over two years remaining to finish this country off for good – and I am not all that confident that the repubes taking the Senate next November is going to make any difference.

You know, I used to be a fairly optimistic person, but that optimism has pretty much been beaten out of me – particularly since Jan. 20, 2009. 🙁

Thank you for your diligent efforts to uncover the truth, Dr. Eowyn.

We are learning how much can go wrong when a bad leader comes into power. This circus clown has done unbelievable harm in less than 6 years. That means we have to survive more than another 2 years just to see day light, and that’s IF we can elect honorable leaders.

    • Thank you, TD, for your diligent unpaid dedication to our blog.

Just the other day, on the subject of the Operation American Spring dud, my husband asked, “Why are Americans so passive in the face of this destruction?” 🙁

      • traildustfotm

I wonder the same thing. How can the people around us not see what’s going on?

        • Well Traildust, I think it goes back to the establishment of the public school system, which from the outset, was imagined by those heading it’s foundation to not be a place for education but “maintenance of the social order” (john dewey) and in 1905 one “Elwood Cubberly, the future Dean of Education at Stanford, wrote that schools should be factories “in which raw products, children, are to be shaped and formed into finished products… manufactured like nails, and the specifications for manufacturing will come from government and industry.”” Have a look at the rest of the stuff here: https://www.informationliberation.com/?id=27316 (which itself is a repost of an article form the old memory hole, which may still be found in the wayback machine I think.)

This is very vile when it comes down to it as, when the dumbed down parents have kids, the kids will usually only know as much as the parents, and if they do manage to surpass them that is generally quelled when they are sent off to the public re-education camps that dare call themselves places of learning, (brain)wash, rinse, repeat for a century or two. Now add to that whole formula a complete abscence of any trainign oin common sense, rational thought, and morality, then add to the mix the overt drugging of children under the guise of treating a magical problem that just seemed to appear out of nowhere, and finally add to that the children who are products of the system that have no morality and make the school environment a brutal and savage place where those with intelligence are shunned and bullied to no end, while generally impotent teachers get pay raises, while those that actually do try to do something are reprimanded, or fired entirely. Given all this it isn’t hard to see how the american citizenry has gotten where it has, trained from youth to be dumb and ostriching at any, and every, threat or playing it down so as to “not cause trouble”, what we have here is an adult citizenry that doesn’t have intellect proper, they may have a lot of information/data, but that does not constitute actual intelligence, even a parrot can recite e=mc squared, but the chances of the bird understanding what it has said aren’t that terribly high.

What we’re faced with here is what amounts to a population largely not very much beyond the early teenage years, mentally speaking, who never advance beyond that, and attempt to hold onto that age for as long as they possibly can, by whatever means necessary. There is over a century of brainwahsing, and what one might call “stupidification”, something that is very hard to repair in the span of a single lifetime, especially when the majority are likely to try to reinforce the programming.

      • Frogs in a boiling pot of water…

    • TD I sure hear what you are saying, but even more astounding are those that continue to support/ follow him without question and a media that are nothing but lapdogs rolling over for a tummy rub.
I fear for this country and the lack of any action or support on the march in DC this weekend sure looks sad for the future.

      • I think it’s possible that a lot of people have been SO passive, for SO long, that even though they don’t like where America is going, and recognize what needs to be done, they aren’t quite sure WHAT to do,or when,or where,or how, without threatening a different or BIGGER effort’s possible success by doing the wrong thing. Maybe we’d get more support from the GP if we had more exact direction by our leaders. “DO something!” is hardly a constructive directive-but saying WHAT to do,in specific terms the political lay person understands, might get more action.
        Just my observation…..
