Obama the First

What a path-breaking president Barack Hussein Obama is proving to be! Did you know that President Obama, in addition to being America’s first African-American president, is also the…

  • 1st president in 110 years to miss the annual Army-Navy Football Game.
  • 1st president to not attend any Christmas religious observance.
  • 1st president to stay on vacation after a terrorist attack.
  • 1st president not to stay in Washington for Christmas for the last 20 years. Past Presidents did not leave Washington for Christmas vacation until after Christmas. This was done so that their staff (Secret Service, Air Force One Crew, Limousine transport, Presidential advancing logistics etc.) could be with their families for Christmas.

Aren’t you just bursting with pride with this sui generis president?
H/t my friend Nancy!

  1. I second that! LOL

  2. Was he also the first president that didn’t acknowledge the National Day of Prayer? But he did acknowledge some national holiday for Islam? Up is down and down is up in our world right now…

  3. 1st president to not attend any Christmas religious observance.
No. Thomas Jefferson, a deist, was the first.
Was he also the first president that didn’t acknowledge the National Day of Prayer?
No. Again, Jefferson was the first. During his term as President, he refused to designate national days for religious observances, believing that it should be left up to each individual state.
Jefferson, who was often accused of being an atheist, didn’t attend any Army-Navy games, either. 🙂
What a horrible, horrible man he was.

    • Monte,
I’m so glad you brought up Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd President! Since it was you who made recourse to Jefferson, surely you would know that Jefferson was:
      1. Adamantly pro-2nd Amendment: “”Laws that forbid the carrying of arms … disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes … Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”
      2. Believed that judges should be technical specialists but should not set policy; he opposes the doctrine of judicial review.
      3. Advocated restraining government via rebellion and violence when necessary, in order to protect individual freedoms: “And what country can preserve its liberties, if the rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.”
      4. He was a deist but never an atheist. In fact, he repeatedly expressed his belief in God and his admiration for Jesus as a moral teacher.
      5. During his Presidency, Jefferson attended the weekly church services held in the House of Representatives. Church services were held in executive branch buildings throughout his administration. Although he did not believe in the Christian dogma, Jefferson attended these public services because he believed that religion was important for republican government. He even contributed to church endowment funds.
In other words, Jefferson was pro gun rights, pro militia, pro individual freedom, anti Big Govt, anti an activist, policy-making Court (i.e., he favored an “original intent” interpertation of the Constitution), pro Christian beliefs & morality as a buttress of republican government. All of which makes Jefferson — GASP! — a Conservative!!!
P.S. Unlike you, I provide my source. It’s none other than the humble but ubiquitous wikipedia!

    • Well, turns out The Traitor wasn’t the first after all. Does that make him a horrible man, no. But it does make him a LIAR. He claims he’s Christian yet doesn’t observe Christian holidays.

  4. And one actually wrote the Declaration of the Independence and participated in the writing of the Constitution; while the other one trashed the Constitution saying that it had too many “negative” freedoms (referring to government NOT being allowed to do this or that), thereby demonstrating that he completely missed the point and wisdom of the Founding Fathers.

  5. Frankly, it is idiotic to compare Obama to Jefferson in all realms of logic. They cannot survive even the print on the same page together! Bravo Eowyn! You are truly brilliant!
