Obama Expands Obese Govt Via Regulatory Powers

Mindful of our flawed human nature, our Founding Fathers designed a limited government because, in James Madison’s immortal words,

“What is government itself but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external or internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: You must first enable the government to control the governed, and in the next place oblige it to control itself.” —The Federalist Papers

Below is the Obama Chart, made by Americans For Prosperity, which maps out the ways in which Obama, in just two years, has grown our already Big Government into Morbid Obesity.
Not only is Obama ignoring Congress, but he is actively creating vast new regulatory powers on critical issues of healthcare, cap-and-trade, and card check. He has sidestepped the Senate by creating some 41 new policy ‘czars. The best solution is the REINS Act, which is explained on the chart.

The REINS Act (Regulations From the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act of 2011) has been introduced in the House of Representatives as H.R. 10. Read the full text of H.R. 10 HERE. Urge your reps to support H.R. 10!

  1. The best solution is to force this Kenyan farce the Hell out of office ASAP and put the fear of God into whoever replaces him.
    Yeah, I know.
    Dream on, Dave.

Zorro, that comment puts the cherry on top of the sundae! LOL!

  6. I invite anyone to identify EPA cap & trade regulations for greenhouse gas pollution, proposed or final. There are none. You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts.
And the REINS Act is anti-democratic and irresponsible, allowing a single congressional chamber veto of laws enacted by a majority of Congress and signed by the president. That’s hardly conservative under any traditional understanding. And it’s telling that conservatives promoted a strong executive branch and failed to push legislation like the REINS Act when a Republican was in the White House. Sheer hypocrisy.

  7. Actually, sage_brush, the REINS Act would accelerate existing trends toward greater power by oligarchies of big corporations and wealthy elites that already can buy elections and political power in Congress. The REINS Act would make that job much easier by enabling these monied special interests to block health and safety laws with just the opposition of the House of Representatives. The REINS Act is dream legislation for corporate special interests that have not managed to buy the House, Senate and White House every election cycle, which has allowed democratically enacted laws to be safeguarded against their desires by checks and balances in two chambers of Congress and the executive branch. The REINS Act is carefully designed to overturn that system by allowing corporations and the wealthy to buy single chamber vetoes of our laws.
