Obama Chips Away at Gun Rights

There’s a parable that expertly taps into our human psychology. It goes something like this:

A frog was placed into a pot of water over a stove. The stove was set on “Low” — and the water heated up very s-l-o-w-l-y. Oblivious to the danger, the frog was happily content to stay in the pot. Occasionally, the frog would grumble about the pot getting a tad hot but quickly got accustomed to the warmer temperature. And so, the water got hotter and hotter. But the frog stayed put because he got used to the heat — until, suddenly, the water reached boiling point. Horrified, the frog finally realized his perilous condition. He struggled to leap out. Alas, he had become so weakened he could no longer escape….

The boiling frog parable both describes and explains how Americans became lulled to the progressive systematic socialization of our economy and the progressive systematic engorgement of our government.
The boiling frog is also the method that the Obama administration is using regarding our Second Amendment right to bear arms.

A message from Conservative Actions Alert

The federal government wants to BAN HUNTING and TARGET PRACTICE on public lands! Yes, the most anti-gun President wants to impose LIMITS on your firearms!
Barack Obama continues to DEFY the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution! The current administration is trying to make it very DIFFICULT for recreational shooters, maybe such as yourself.
We must fight this new federal over-reach, gun-control rules and regulations!
Administration officials say they are concerned about the potential clash between gun owners and encroaching urban populations who like to use the same land for hiking and dog walking.
Yes, the Obama administration wants to BAR YOU from MILLIONS of acres of target practice under new rules drafted by the Interior Department.
Frank Jenks, a natural resource specialist with the U.S. Interior’s Bureau of Land Management (which oversees 245 million acres!), says: “It’s not so much a safety issue. It’s a social conflict issue.” I am wondering what planet he is from!!
Sources say that if the administration’s policy is approved, some public access to Bureau lands to hunters would also be limited, potentially reducing areas for deer, elk and bear hunters, especially in the West—600,000 acres in Arizona alone!
Don’t let one more liberal bureaucrat tell you where you can target practice!! Fax now to support the two bills before Congress!
Please CLICK HERE to FAX every Member of the U.S. Congress to make sure that “Sports Shooters” can target practice on federal lands. We support H.R. 3440 and H.R. 3065, which will help to preserve public lands for recreational use. Urge Congress to Co-Sponsor both important, Second Amendment-saving bills!
Here are two powerful pieces of federal legislation that you must urge Members of Congress to sponsor and support:

  1. H.R. 3065. U.S. Representative Heath Shuler, joined by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and 54 cosponsors, introduced bipartisan legislation that would help states construct and maintain safe public shooting ranges. H.R. 3065, the Target Practice and Marksmanship Training Support Act, would allow states flexibility to allocate a greater proportion of their federal wildlife funds to create accessible recreational shooting facilities.
  1. H.R. 3440. The Recreational Shooting Protection Act. Introduced by Rep. Jeff Flake, this bill currently has 27 co-sponsors. Rep. Flake describes: “Banning recreational shooting sports on public lands is yet another example of the Administration’s bureaucratic overreach. (This bill) will ensure that Congress exercises appropriate oversight over the BLM’s proposed closures.”

Last year, the Bureau of Land Management closed over 400,000 acres of public lands in three states to sports shooting!
Here is the key BLM statement that could directly affect YOU:
“When the authorized officer determines that a site or area on BLM-managed lands used on a regular basis for recreational shooting is creating public disturbance, or is creating risk to other persons on public lands; is contributing to the defacement, removal or destruction of natural features, native plants, cultural resources, historic structures or government and/or private property; is facilitating or creating a condition of littering, refuse accumulation and abandoned personal property is violating existing use restrictions, closure and restriction orders, or supplementary rules notices, and reasonable attempts to reduce or eliminate the violations by the BLM have been unsuccessful, the authorized officer will close the affected area to recreational shooting.”
That’s right! Shooters, like yourself and your friends, are being “held hostage” by the Obama anti-gun administration. You are being held to a much higher safety standard than other users of public lands, such as ATV riders, for example.

  1. Did any of you hear about the American Arms Industry being bought up by an outsider? freedoms are being slowly eroded.

  2. Grouchy,
What Lone refers to is probably an e-mail that’s circulating around, claiming that some corporation associated with Soros is buying up all the guns in the U.S
I looked it up. It’s a hoax. You or others can verify this by googling “guns Soros” and find the Urban Legends, Snopes, et al. links debunking this.

  3. I don’t trust Snopes…but hey…what do I know? It really seems more plausible to me than not. I don’t feel it is a hoax. He has the money to do it. They want to get guns away from people. Patriots will not give up their guns…it just seems more common sense that Soros DID buy them than not. No one is going to tell the truth about something like that. They don’t want you to know just how close they are from taking it all away!

  4. If you think it’s bad now, just wait till Obama’s second term. Operation “Rapido et Furioso” seems to have elements that suggest they were trying to pin gun crime on arms sales. At one point, they were thinking of getting records of multiple gun sales – but then somebody realized that that would uncover all the Fed gun-buying, and the gun dealers who were made to sell them.
Don’t get sidetracked by Lone Wolf’s thread. True or not, the bottom line is that the government wants guns outlawed.

  5. Well, we better get out the full armor of God:
The helmet of the hope of salvation, the girdle of truth, feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, the Breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith in our left hand saturated in the Blood of the Lamb to quench the fiery darts of the enemy, and the Sword of the spirit in our right hand, the sharp two edged sword that cuts going in and coming out, that can rend asunder the soul from the spirit, the bone from the marrow, that will discern the thoughts and intents of the heart, that will accomplish the purpose for which it was sent forth, IT WILL NOT RETURN TO GOD VOID.
No weapon formed against us shall prosper.
You can take it to the bank.

  6. I heard it on info.wars and it said ALL American Munitions Companies were being bought up. Actual Companies, like Colt, Ruger, Browning. We only build tanks in this country and not many Irish people know it. Happy New Year to you all in the land of the Free.

  7. 1) An armed rabble could never defeat a concerted effort by the U.S. military to takeover this country on behalf of a tyrant.
    2) It will never come to that because the armed rabble is just that (as opposed to “well organized militias,” and wouldn’t put up enough resistance to even call it a fight.
    3) It won’t even come to that, because when tyranny comes to the USA, it will wrapped in the flag and carrying a bible. It will be a battle of hearts and minds that will won or lost without major bloodshed. Most likely, the military would just say no, and the tyrant would be foiled from the get go.
So, by arming ourselves to the teeth, all we are doing is giving criminals more chances to obtain guns through theft. You don’t need assault rifles, or high capacity clips, or semi-to-auto conversion kits. We as a country don’t need gun show loopholes, or guns on campuses or in bars.
Every other Western country has extreme limits on handguns and assault rifles and they seem to be getting along just fine without them. Current examples show that the answer to gun violence is NOT more guns. Stolen guns commit more crimes than legal guns prevent, and nothing will improve if gun access is left as wide open as it currently is. ~Ed, the .44 calibre gadfly

    • Ah, Ed, so then only statist thugs like the SS should have guns? That’ll make everything peaceful and safe, with rainbows and unicorns abounding, right? England, effectively banning private ownership of firearms, has has a massive increase in violent crime… to the point they’re thinking of knife control and probably won’t realize the obvious unitl “gravity control” become fashionable.

    • “You don’t need”….it’s got nothing to do with “need”. It’s a right.
Next thing you know the government will be determining all our “needs” for us.

    • You don’t need assault rifles? Tell that to Holder. Apparently he thought the Mexican drug smugglers needed them…
So government should determine laws based upon their arbitrary definition of “need” instead of the Constitution? What’s next, you don’t need that Big Mac? You don’t need that kitchen knife? You don’t need that car (you know, like the one Kennedy used to kill MaryJo)?
Stolen guns don’t commit crimes Edward, PEOPLE do.

  8. Edward, an example for you…
“It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed, a program costing the government more than $500 million dollars. And now the results are in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent; Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent). In the state of Victoria, homicides with firearms are up 300 percent. Figures over the previous 25 years show a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms (changed drastically in the past 12months). There has been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly.”
