Women want “equal” rights so now they have a board game that gives them an “advantage.”
Liberal logic is not designed to make sense.
From NY Post: Do not pass go, do not collect…$240?
The iconic Monopoly board game is getting a feminist update for 2019.
Hasbro’s newest version of the game, dubbed “Ms. Monopoly,” will pay female players more than males – a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the gender pay gap in America.
In Ms. Monopoly, women will receive $240 when they pass “go,” whereas men will only receive the usual $200. Additionally, women will receive $1900 at the beginning of the game instead of $1500, according to USA Today.
On the game box, the classic Rich Uncle Pennybags character is replaced by his “niece” Ms. Monopoly, ready to break the glass ceiling with her gray blazer and cup of coffee.
At the bottom, the slogan reads, “The first game where women make more than men.”
“[It’s] a fun new take on the game that creates a world where women have an advantage often enjoyed by men,” Hasbro said in a statement. “But don’t worry, if men play their cards right, they can make more money too.”
The pay disparity is not the only female-centric addition to the game. Instead of buying traditional properties and charging rent, players will instead have the chance to invest in inventions pioneered by women, including Wi-Fi and chocolate chip cookies, according to CNN.
“With all of the things surrounding female empowerment, it felt right to bring this to Monopoly in a fresh new way,” Jen Boswinkel, senior director of global brand strategy and marketing for Hasbro, told USA Today. “It’s giving the topic some relevancy to everyone playing it that everybody gets a turn, and this time women get an advantage at the start.”
Boswinkel also told USA Today that families can opt to give out equal amounts of cash to every player if they choose.
Hasbro faced some heat last month after another edition of the game, Monopoly Socialism, gained attention on social media. Designed as a parody of the game’s capitalism-centric themes, some accused it of being condescending and getting socialism theory wrong.
Ms. Monopoly is available for pre-order September 10.
