Morgan Freeman on Inventing God

(The Wrap) You don’t play a lot of villains, but do you think there are villains? Because we always hear that villains don’t think that they’re villains? (Freeman) I think that there is balance in the universe. And these questions are the questions of balance.
This next question may be the hardest, and I’m especially curious about your answer because you’ve played God, and had to guess how God would act… Well, I need to play the devil now, to balance it out. [Laughs.]
Did we invent God? Yes.
So there isn’t a God up in the sky somewhere. We came up with God ourselves. Well, here’s a scientific question: Has anybody ever seen hard evidence? What we get is theories from our earlier prophets. Now, people who think that God invented us think that the Earth can’t be more than 6,000 years old. So I guess it’s a question of belief. My belief system doesn’t support a creator as such, as we can call God, who created us in His/Her/Its image.
Would you consider yourself an atheist, or agnostic? It’s a hard question because as I said at the start, I think we invented God. So if I believe in God, and I do, it’s because I think I’m God.
Would you like to live a thousand years? Absolutely. … You’re just satisfying your curiosity. Imagine if you could live for a thousand years. Considering that — when did the Wright Brothers fly? In the next 200 years, what will we be doing?
Do you think we’ll still be going to movie theaters and watching TV? I could foresee holograms in your living room.
Poor Freeman…just because you played God in a movie does not make you God.

Freeman and his step-granddaughter

Freeman is a 75-year-old man rumored to be having an affair with his 30-year-old step-granddaughter E’dena Hines.  His wife accused him of having an affair with a close friend of hers.  That’s not very God-like behavior now is it?
Last September Freeman said this, ““The Tea Partiers who are controlling the Republican Party…their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term…What underlines that? Screw the country, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here. It is a racist thing.”  Maybe the poor fool hasn’t seen the destruction Skippy has done to our country during the last three years.
As for evidence of God, perhaps he should read some of Sage’s Bible study pages.

  1. He seems to do better in his evil deeds, so it won’t be hard to portray his part of the devil. He has a good-bad start at it.

  2. You can gain the whole world and lose your soul…….

  3. You find people who believe or do not believe, but how many can say they believe and have met God personally, not very many, but some have, like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Israel, Moses, Joshua, Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, and me, And some others, but not that many. And people who don’t think God will send them to hell for sin are greatly mistaken.

  4. Terry, I know how you feel. I always admired Bill Cosby, and then I heard things that really disappointed me. I thought Morgan Freeman was great, and then I heard him pontificating. And I heard Samuel L. Jackson say, “Don’t talk about me being a BLACK actor, I’m just an actor…judge me on my acting.” I thought that was terrific. Then I heard him race-baiting too. Denzel? Forget it. I give up. I guess it’s too much to ask.

  5. what a retard.. i sort of remember seeing some of his delusional thoughts not that long ago kind of makes you wonder how he manages to walk and talk at the same time.
