Montana Playground: Not for Sissies

Rate this post

A family that lives on the outskirts of  Missoula , Montana decided to build a sturdy, colorful playground for their 3- and 4-year-old sons.

They lined the bottom with smooth-stone gravel all around to avoid knee scrapes and other injuries.

They finished building it one Friday evening and were very pleased with the end product.

The following morning, the mom was about to wake the boys up and have them go out to play in their new play center.

This is what she saw from the upstairs window.

  1. “If you build it, they will come!” lol

  2. Evidently, the bears like it…

  3. This could actually happen in my yard!!

All mom could do was grin and bear it!

  5. Bobcat kittens in Arizona… playground equipment must have some kind of appeal to kids of all species.

  6. Wow, these are something. Up in Alaskawe had moose that roamed the neighborhood all the time, and one of us had to be out with the kids to keep an eye out. You never knew when one or two of them would decide to pay a visit. Sometimes we had to walk to the elementary school or home by an alternate route if we spotted them down the street.
Have you ever seen vans of parents trying to wrangle a moose? That happened too just as school let out one day. We had moved to another neighborhood and lived right across the street from the school, and parents in three vans had to convince him to move on. We stood on the front porch and watched, and it was a funny sight to see. Moose roam Anchorage on a regular basis. They simply live there.
I would suggest building a chain link enclosure around the play area, so the bears can’t get it, to prevent a tragedy.
