Mom slammed for saying “Father Christmas” instead of PC-accepted, “gender neutral” Santa

Good grief, liberals are a whiny bunch. Why y’all always trying to control others’ language?

From NY Post: Haters say this un-PC mother deserves a lump of coal for Christmas.

An unnamed mom in Plymouth, England, says she’s being ridiculed online for calling Santa Claus “Father Christmas,” instead of a gender-neutral equivalent, PlymouthLive reports.

The local mother says she was discussing a kids’ Christmas book in a Facebook group when she used the name — and commenters began ridiculing her for it, telling her to use “Santa” instead.

“Santa is now seen as gender neutral,” the woman writes. “I was only referring to the book ‘Father Christmas’ by Raymond Briggs,” she says, adding, “but it’s left me a little confused/on edge about what we are aloud [sic] to say.”

Some defended the mom’s name choice. “Father Christmas is fine!” another mom wrote in the group. “We have always used that in our family!! Use what YOU want.”

“Carry on calling him Father Christmas, it’s your choice,” responded another.

One dad agreed on the premise of maintaining a British tradition. “It is Father Christmas, we are English not American! This gender neutral stuff is way out of hand,” he said.

The name Santa Claus is not as popular in England, where many Brits use “Father Christmas” or “Saint Nicholas.”

Others were firmly against the name, though. “I must be the only one who hates ‘Father Christmas’, I much prefer ‘Santa/Santa Claus,’ plus it’s easier for littlies to say,” writes one parent.

The mom who wrote ‘Father Christmas’ in the Facebook group, however, has decided to adopt the gender-neutral name. “I have a small child and don’t really want to raise him saying ‘Father Christmas’ if it’s hurtful to some,” she says.

Yes they want to control our language and co-opt it. And the attitude of mom here who is worried about being “hurtful to some” is allowing them to do it. I thought Brits had spines. I had a Dr. appointment last week and as I left my doc said “Happy Holidays”. Excuse me? I said, “You mean Merry Christmas don’t you?” “Yeah, I’m with you on that”. me: “Then say it”. Him: “Merry Christmas”. Me: “That’s better”. 🙂

Over the last few years, when someone says to me, “Happy Holidays”, I simply reply, “Merry Christmas”, and go on my way rarely looking to hear or see a response.

My doctor is of Italian descent and Catholic. I was just letting him know he doesn’t have to be PC with me. In most other situations your response is best

At least Father Christmas’s gender is male, masculine, man.

Santa is a title, not a name, and Claus is a man’s name (horror!). Since Father Christmas is now anathema, the PC name in the UK should be either Parent 1 Christmas or Parent 2 Christmas.

Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, pray to God for us!
Never forget who Santa is.
