Career criminal James Javontae Barquet

Not enough gun control laws can stop a determined, career criminal. Nor can the justice system, apparently.

This past Monday, an 11-time convicted felon shot and killed two people – execution style – in two separate incidents in Portland, Oregon.

According to Oregon Live, the perp is James Javontae Barquet (age 26) who is now charged with aggravated murder charges, first-degree robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.

Barquet killed 70-year-old Carol Horner and 51-year-old Brian Hansen with single shots using a .45-caliber pistol. Barquet shot both victims in the head.

Read about the details of the killings here.

Oregon Live provides more information about this career criminal:

  • Barquet lived at Longfellow Creek apartments in Seattle, a public housing complex.
  • Barquet has 11 felony convictions in Washington dating back to 2011.
  • His prior convictions include drug possession, theft, robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and riot with a deadly weapon.
  • The perp was released from state prison on July 11 after serving seven months for felony possession of a controlled substance.
  • Barquet entered a state supervision program two days later, where he met weekly with a community corrections officers.
  • The Washington State Department of Corrections officer was unaware that Barquet had traveled to Oregon.

Unlawful possession of a firearm is a Class A misdemeanor in Oregon, punishable by up to one year in prison. Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is a Class C felony in Oregon, punishable by up to five years in prison.

I wonder if Barquet every served full sentences for his previous offenses?

More proof that gun control laws cannot control the free will of a man intent on committing crimes.

  1. These are the very people the Demonrat Party promotes and protects.

  2. The Left is known for one outstanding quality: It will always confuse the victim and the perpetrator. Barquet deserves to be hanged. But even if the D.A. pursues this, it will take about 30 years to do it. No problem for the hemophiliac left: Their pity is reserved for Barquet. I hope he and his sympathizers go to hell!

  3. We all know that the “Just Us” system sucks. The fact that he used a gun is more a matter of convenience than anything diagnostic. If he hadn’t had access to a gun he could have used a knife or an axe, or a rock, chair, hammer, whatever.

The issue isn’t “the gun”. The issue is violence. I think the second part is the issue of expecting “The Government” to protect us. They have never done that successfully and they are extremely unlikely to do so in the future, even with their desired draconian laws.

The truth is that they have no interest in protecting us and we should be protecting ourselves. When one of these violent morons screws up sufficiently to actually be incarcerated, they should stay incarcerated. Just imagine how many of these have sufficient intelligence to avoid capture.

We are constantly bombarded by this simplistic notion that without guns life around these savages would be better. It would not. I’m not sure if there is an acceptable solution to the real problem, but gun confiscation is certainly not it.

As far as so-called “gun control” goes, there should be none. We should talk honestly about what sort of dangers these mutts present. We should act accordingly. Pretending that certain groups are merely “misunderstood” or somehow (culturally diverse – but otherwise harmless) when in fact they are not, is the worst form willful stupidity.

That is like the female hitchhikers that have been mentioned on these pages previously that ventured off into Muslim countries to disprove reality and lost. When someone teases a wild animal and gets mauled I call that terminal stupidity. Pretending these low-life predators are simply “other cultured” and harmless is no less ignorant.

  4. If that clip is indicative of the “quality of this tv show” . . . thank heavens I have never wasted my time watching it.

There is a profound sadness in the fact that a tv program that was thought of fondly . . . . dives into the dumpster with a re-make of the program!

Candace Bergen should be ashamed of her sheer desperation in appearing in such a lack luster program.
