Liberals setting your kids up to be sitting ducks at public schools

One word for you: Homeschool.

From Yahoo: Oregon’s largest school district will no longer have police officers in its schools and joins a handful of urban districts from Minneapolis to Denver that are rethinking their school resource officer programs amid national outrage over the death of George Floyd.

Superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero said Thursday that Portland Public Schools needed to “re-examine our relationship” with the police in light of protests over the death of Floyd, a handcuffed black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee into his neck for nearly nine minutes.

The district of more than 49,000 students joins Minneapolis, which severed ties with its school resource officers on Tuesday. Districts in St. Paul, Minnesota and Denver are considering doing the same. Protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, have made the end of the school resource officer program in their district one of their demands.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said Thursday that he would also discontinue using school resource officers in two smaller metropolitan districts under a program that costs the city $1.6 million a year.

The move is in response to the demands of thousands of protesters, many of them young, who have filled the streets of Oregon’s largest city for six consecutive nights. Having the officers in high schools has been a touchy topic for several years in this liberal city. Students have protested in recent years for an end to the program, at one point even overwhelming a school board meeting.

“Leaders must listen and respond to community. We must disrupt the patterns of racism and injustice,” Wheeler said Thursday of the most recent demonstrations. “I am pulling police officers from schools.”

The presence of armed police officers in schools is a contentious one. While many Portland residents applauded the decision, others raised immediate concerns about student safety in the event of a school shooting or other emergency. Wheeler said the city would make sure officers could respond rapidly in an emergency.

This is extremely dangerous. If I was a parent in that district, I would be making immediate plans to move. If I had to break a lease I would do it. I for one got my education in race realism in public schools. I saw first hand the brutality of the black students toward the white students and each other. The chicanery, the great efforts they took to avoid any kind of work, efforts to derail the classroom so that no one could get an education whether they wanted one or not. And if there had not been any penalty… Read more »

Vin, where have you been? My school in CA has not had a resource officer since the onset of Obama and the depression years of teacher “furlough” days during his admin. so, over a decade. We have to call the local police from our rooms when needed, like I had to do one time when a demented parent showed up in my room due to lax front office procedures, to threaten my life b/c her child did not receive the assigned SEAT that she wanted…even tho’ she’d missed the first 2 weeks of school, (during which I’d assigned seats) b/c… Read more »

Why do you subject yourself this abuse and teach those little black shits? I’d rather live in a small town in Montana or Nebraska or somewheres poor than have to live and work in a place like that.

From 11 years ago……” A White Teacher Speaks Out”. It is just as you say… they don’t want to learn and they keep everyone else from learning too and worse.

And you can’t get rid of them either. If you tell them to leave they will say, “I have a right to be here! I have a right to an education!” Then they will act like they are going to be serious for a few minutes but as soon as you go on along with your lecture, they will start their heathenry again. These people are a genetic case. There is no fixing them. It seems our forefathers up till 1865 had it right.

Huh…nothing like children dictating school policy to the adults. I agree with Vin….get out of Oregon and go to California. Remember when Oregon was conservative before it was Californicated? Liberals move to red states and bring their commie ideas with them.

Ditto Joseph….and ironically, we are seeing that people fleeing California, for places like Texas, over this last decade–in such number as to affect the politics of their refugee state—take the same darn politics—that made them flee—along with them to their refuge. And, now, they are changing the politics in their new home into the same politics that created the conditions that they fled. THIS is a CAZY MAKER FOR SURE!!!!! My goal is to get out of CA and into a state that NO ONE CARES ABOUT.

or…Utah…been there, done that, same as NDak….spent 6 yrs there working on an Indian Health Service Clinic….or Montana …esp the “banana belt” or most of Nevada, Nebraska, WVA, or KY, or TENN…certain rural places in so/central PA….there’s a BIG LIST. I’ve been all over the USA on purpose….even Alaska. Only state I’ve never been to once (others…multiple times over 30+ yrs) is Hawaii. I guess I am “fly-over” voter/citizen, no matter where I presently live. Just want to get back to that basket of deplorables, “my people” where ever they reside. Won’t have to have a 6-ft fence across my… Read more »
