Liam Neeson: 'America has too many f****** guns'

Daily Mail: It has become one of Hollywood’s surprising second acts – how 62-year-old Liam Neeson became one of Tinseltown’s most bankable action heroes playing a cold blooded killer with a particular set of skills.
But now the Irish-born actor and star of the ultra-violent Taken trilogy has thought it wise to wade into America’s fraught gun debate. Speaking at a press conference in Dubai for the launch of Taken 3 on Tuesday, Neeson offered an interviewer his opinion of his adopted home’s attitude to firearms.
‘There’s just too many [expletive] guns out there,’ said Neeson, who is reputed to have been paid $20 million for the new latest Taken installment. ‘Especially in America. I think the population is like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns. Privately owned, in America.’
‘I think it’s a [expletive] disgrace. Every week now we’re picking up a newspaper and seeing, ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.’
When asked if the issue extends to police responsibility Neeson said ‘let’s not get into it’. But then added: ‘Let’s put it this way: I think a light has been shone on the justice system in America, and it’s a justifiable light.’
Neeson, a supporter of gun control, is best known as gun-toting father, Bryan Mills, who will stop at nothing to get his loved ones back.
But he was quick to make the distinction between fiction and reality, and said his movies wouldn’t inspire people to buy and use guns. Growing up watching cowboy movies had not turned him into a killer, he said.
‘A character like Bryan Mills going out with guns and taking revenge: it’s fantasy. It’s in the movies, you know? I think it can give people a great release from stresses in life and all the rest of it, you know what I mean? It doesn’t mean they’re all going to go out and go, ‘Yeah, let’s get a gun!’
The Irish-born actor became an American citizen five years ago and currently lives in New York City. Before speaking about gun ownership in America, Neeson reflected on Said and Cherif Kouachi shooting spree last Wednesday that claimed a dozen lives. He said: ‘First off, my thoughts and prayers and my heart are with the deceased, and certainly with all of France. ‘I’ve got a lot of dear friends in Paris.’
The wildly successful Taken trilogy has grossed almost $603 million to date in box office worldwide. It has turned Neeson from a respected character actor most famous for his portrayal of Oscar Schindler in Steven Spielberg’s Oscar winning Schindler’s List into a fully fledged action hero.
The star is reported to have been paid $20 million for his role as CIA operative Bryan Mills, joining the ranks of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks as Hollywood’s best paid stars.
However, some of course are not happy with Neeson’s foray into Second Amendment politics. ‘The rank hypocrisy of an actor who uses guns in his films and attacks gun ownership at the same time is way over the top. I guess you don’t need brains to act,’ said Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation to WND. ‘All you have to do is read the script.’

  1. He sure didn’t seem to mind making money using guns. His movies would sure suck if they took the guns out.
I wonder if he lives in a guarded area or uses guards while traveling?
Do these hypocrites even think before they open their mouths?

  2. I don’t understand why those celebrities have the need to share their personal and political opinions, specially when we are talking about something polemic! The most important quality a good actor must have is the ability to be a chameleon. After they revel their personal tastes and opinions that ability is lost.
Have always been a big fan of Matt Damon (specially because of the movie “Good Will Hunting”) but after listening to him I don’t enjoy his movies quite as much… it is difficult to dissociate his opinions from his characters. Same thing here… if Liam Neeson dislikes guns, why on earth does he do violent movies that promote gun violence… that ruins Taken for me!!! He should do other kind of movies like “Love actually” (which is a great movie btw) and stay away from Taken, a walk among tombstones and so on…
I think we should boycott all movies in which he appears holding guns!!!

    • “I think we should boycott all movies in which he appears holding guns!!!”
Why confine your boycott to only movies in which Neeson appears holding guns? 😉

      • I agree DR. Eowyn if everyone was like me Commiewood would go out of business. I cant disassociate their Communist views with the characters they play, so I gave up going to movies. I watch some of the old movies ever now and then.

    • I’ve given up going to the movies long ago. I will not support these fools in that way. It’s like dealing with vermin, you remove their food source first.

  3. DCG, it’s brilliant of you to intersperse movie posters of Neeson holding guns. LOL. What a steaming pile of hypocrisy he is.
Also, let us not forget Neeson’s sympathetic (and distorted) portrayal in the movie “Kinsey” of Alfred Kinsey, the bisexual open-marriage sexologist whom the Left idolize, who singlehandedly (no pun intended) perpetrated the erroneous claim that 10% of U.S. males are homosexual — which is still being taught in colleges and universities and disseminated by media and pop culture. The actual %, of course, is actually 2% or less.

  4. What this country has is too many foreigners with big fucking mouths. And foreigners who are completely oblivious to their own hypocrisy. This soft minded “action hero” has made millions upon millions of dollars promoting violence through his awful movies and yet has the unmitigated gall to rant about OUR right to legally possess firearms. Hey Liam, go fuck yourself, and please do so in the country of your origin.

    • Ed K.
Nice try using an altered alias. You are the same Edward Keiser who just yesterday told us to go F ourselves. We are still waiting for your apology.

      • Altered alias? Hardly. Ed K is short for my actual name. I do not post under aliases because I want people to know who I am and what my opinions are. You will receive no apology from me because I do not apologize for speaking my mind nor for speaking the truth as I see it. And if I remember correctly the portion of that comment was directed at my detractors. I am NOT a slave to political correctness and if that offends people then that’s just too f****** bad. If you do not want me to post on your site then just delete my account.

    • Most of ’em are RAISED around that same hypocrisy,so that’s “normality” to them. As they grow, the schools fill their heads with MORE of it,THEN they go to work in a business hat knows of nothing BUT hypocrisy.,so what can we EXPECT from them? SOME put some effort towards seeing the world from a REALIST point of view, and realize what BS they’ve been spoon-fed their whole lives and change their lives for the better (even if not for the financially better),but for MOST,the money’s SO GOOD-why screw THAT up?

  5. In June 2012, reports that Neeson was converting to Islam were denied by his publicist. However, he has expressed an affection for the Adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, that he grew used to while filming Taken 2 in Istanbul: “By the third week, it was like I couldn’t live without it. It really became hypnotic and very moving for me in a very special way. Very beautiful.”

  6. This from a man who started his acting in film version of Pilgrims Progress, Christiana; Now embraces Islam.

  7. I would not attend a movie that featured this leprechaun if they paid me to attend.🍀🍀 What a hypocrite!! Next movie they should arm him with a powder puff. Maybe he should move BACK to Ireland. We don’t need sissies like him trying to change who we are as Americans. He sure doesn’t mind taking money from Americans who carry the “F*****g” guns. Hollyweird is a place as crazy as Washington, whoever goes in there never comes out the same or sane in most instances.

  9. I love that he says
“But he was quick to make the distinction between fiction and reality, and said his movies wouldn’t inspire people to buy and use guns. Growing up watching cowboy movies had not turned him into a killer, he said.”
Hey Liam the only ones watching cowboy movies and becoming killers are some jihadis and that dumpy little Kim guy over in N. Korea. The rest of us will just keep them so we’ll” Have one behind every blade of grass should some one think it a good idea to kinda take a tour down main st.
    Why do they think that
    [caption id="attachment_85906" align="aligncenter" width="500"]Google it. Google it.[/caption]

  10. I agree, this Irish Dumbo needs to go back to Ireland. He is an idiot–of course children are influenced by his gun-toting, fast shootin’ ways in the movies he stars in. Why! Oh! Why do foreigners think that we, as American born citizens need, or want to hear their “take” on how we do things here. Go back to Ireland, and spew your pearls of wisdom on those people!

  11. Liam Neeson is a bloody hypocrite and is as full of crap as a Christmas goose. He’s also probably an Orangeman.

  12. ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.’
IMO most of these kids are being killed directly or indirectly by those who who wish to take the guns from the American people.
History is very clear about what happens after the State disarms its citizenry. and turns them into slaves. Mass State sponsored Genocide of those people you are purportedly “protecting” is always the result..
Of course it will be different in America; it cannot happen here.
Once the guns are ALL in the wrong hands IT WILL HAPPEN.
Who will stop it? Those killing or covering up the killing of our children?
