Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal

Rate this post

I don’t know who wrote this, but it’s a simple, quick, and direct way to convey the economic costs of illegal immigration. It also palpably communicates the justified RAGE of the American working class.
The plain truth is that the political elites of BOTH major parties aid and abet illegal immigration because it serves their selfish interests — against the people’s will. And if you’re upset by the moniker “Jose Illegal,” you’re willingly blind to the reality that Mexico is the main source of illegal aliens.

JOE LEGAL vs. JOSE ILLEGAL

You have two  families: “Joe Legal” and “Jose Illegal”.
Both families  have two parents, two children, and live in California.
Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.
Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number,  and gets paid $15.00 cash “under the  table”.
Ready? Now pay attention….
Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.
Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.
Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.
Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year.  Joe Legal now has $9,631.00.
Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.
Jose Illegal says, “We don’t need no stinkin’ insurance!” and still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.
Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal’s and Jose Illegal’s children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children’s lunches while Jose Illegal’s children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal’s children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal’s children go home.
Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.
Do you get it, now?
If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens….
You are part of the problem!

  1. Aside from the general silliness here — why don’t Joe and Jose live in the same place and pay the same rent, even though Jose’s would supposedly be subsidized? Making Joe’s place $700 more a month seems unfair — it’s worth noting that a huge number of illegal immigrants DO have social security numbers, and DO have social security and other payroll taxes withheld from their paychecks, all so their employers can claim to believe they’re here legally. There’s an excellent chance Jose is starting out with $21,840 in his pocket and not $21,200.

    • So what’s your point, rants? Of course, there are illegal aliens who pay social security taxes. But there are also plenty who don’t and plenty more who unjustly take advantage of America’s educational and health care provisions. And that’s the point of my post.
My post is not — nor does it even pretend to be — a social science treatise with statistical data and a representative sample. For someone who calls himself “Researchrants,” who obviously prides himself for his intellect, you would know that, wouldn’t you? Furthermore, let me ask you this question:
Why are you so bent on defending people who have no respect for and violate the laws of this country?

      • Because I’m pretty sure illegal immigrants actually are contributing far more in taxes than they’re taking in services, and because I think the points in this are a giant sack of lies that are being used to ramp up the “rage of the American working class?”
No, it’s not pretending to be real data, but it is pretending that the situation it portrays is realistic, and it’s not. In my experience, the guys who are making $15 an hour under the table aren’t doing it 40 hours a week — they’re spending most of their time standing around Home Depot parking lots waiting to jump in a pickup.

        • Gosh, for someone who calls himself “RESEARCHrants,” you’re citing your PERSONAL experience of seeing illegals in Home Depot parking lots as evidence! Bravo! If you’re really RESEARCH savy, you’d know that personal experiences make for poor compelling evidence because (1) it’s anecdotal; and (2) one person’s PERSONAL experience differs from another’s PERSONAL experience.
Here’s Brian T. Kennedy of California’s Claremont Institute in the Journal of Political Commentary & Analysis:
“The costs of illegal immigration are staggering, with some analysts calculating the expense in the tens of millions of dollars each year — including money spent by U.S. taxpayers on social services at national, state, and local levels. Many illegal immigrants, lacking legal status, pay nothing in the form of income tax, even though they receive many benefits from the modern American welfare state and send billions of illegally earned dollars back to their native countries.
There are costs other than financial, costs that are rarely talked about, but contribute to the overall problem. Crimes committed by illegal aliens are a prime example. They are infrequently publicized, but a recernt report indicated that illegal aliens counted for perhaps two-thirds of the fugitive felony warrants in the City of Los Angeles.”

You are right about one thing: The purpose of “Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal” precisely is to provoke the outrage of the American people. It’s high time we get mad. We’re sick and tired of politicians and our “government” ignoring the law and ignoring the will of the majority.
With this, I bid you goodnight. I don’t have the time – nor do I want to spend whatever time & energy I have – endlessly debating with you. You’re not gonna change my mind, nor I yours.

        • RR, You are saying in your experience, In my experience 90 Mexicans worked for a Legitimate company in our town, ALL exempted themselves from having income tax withdrawn from their paychecks, NONE opted for the company offered health care plan, Most were ILLEGAL. Twice the company hired lawyers to get the illegals a temporary legal status so they wouldn’t have to shut down operations, there were no less than 6 people in 3 years using the same name and social security number each for about six months at a time. When it came time to file taxes they were conveniently back in Mexico and never filed. Watch what you say about personal experiences there are approximately 300 million of them in America. Facts are what Eowyn is good at, and she came up with one that throws your logic out the window…….As far as Steve and his point, it goes to show that if we tried to do that which Mexicans are doing to us, the results would be completely the opposite. Also on that line, An immigrant to Mexico cannot own Land there…….How fair is this, why shouldn’t Americans be up in arms about this situation.
Oh and by the way, I may have an attitude about this subject, because, I spent 4 days in the hospital being treated for a serious problem, I had Insurance so my bill was going to be paid. The first night I was there an emergency patient was placed in my room, (semi-private), He was a drunk Mexican, he was belligerent with the nurses, took up all their time, for four days he was treated by the same doctors who treated me and he did not do what he was told, he had no insurance, no job, was 35 years old and had less than 30% of his liver left. He could not pay the bill to the hospital or the doctors, was there because he got drunk and fell down a flight of stairs. I was furious because I knew he didn’t care the burden he was and that I was not only paying my hospital bill but myTAXES were also paying his. IMHO every ILLEGAL should be deported today and marked so if they try to come back they are open game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • By the way, the local business that had the 90 Mexicans working for it, closed down here and MOVED TO MEXICO. No EPA, no OSHA.

  2. Oh, sorry, Steve, I thought I was responding to a post about the economic costs of illegal immigration, and not to one about the status of immigrants to other countries. Maybe you should just erase all that silly pointless text Eowyn put up there and just stick with “What part of Illegal Don’t you understand,” since that does seem to be an argument you can win without troublesome facts getting in the way.

  3. ILLEGAL alien, what’s so hard to understand about that? Along with any claim that they contribute to our economy, they also bring it down by not legally paying for resources. We also have to pay for to take care of inmates that should be immediately returned back to their own country.
