A powerful speech by Lt. Colonel Allen West, an Iraq war veteran, Bronze Star medal recipient, and a candidate for the House of Representatives, Florida, District 22.
Col. West raises a good question: How can we win a war if we can’t even correctly identify and name our enemy? It’s not “a war on TERROR.” One does not declare war against a TACTIC, much as in WWII our war was against Nazi Germany, not its tactic, the Blitzkrieg (“lightning war”). Just as in WWII, our war wasn’t against all Germans but against the ideology of Nazism that animated some Germans, today our war is not against all Muslims, but against the violent jihadist political religion of Islam.
Indeed, the 13th century Venetian traveller Marco Polo had no problem being blunt about Islam (political correctness being nonexistent in the Middle Ages). This is what Polo wrote in his memoirs:
According to their doctrine, whatever is stolen or plundered from others of a different faith, is properly taken, and the theft is no crime; whilst those who suffer death or injury by the hands of Christians, are considered as martyrs. If, therefore, they were not prohibited and restrained by the powers who now govern them, they would commit many outrages. These principles are common to all Saracens (p.63).
Col. West has pledged to repeal ObamaCare if he’s elected. We need this man in Washington. Here’s his campaign website.
Allen West for President, 2012!
H/t my friends Bob W. for the video and Cindy C. for the Polo quote.
