It'll cost you to go green in Washington State

Looks like a tin can, death trap to me...

KOMO News: The Washington state Senate has passed a bill to charge electric car owners a $100 annual fee to compensate for the lack of gas taxes they pay.
Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, the Camano Island Democrat who sponsored the bill, says while electric cars are good for the environment, they put the same wear and tear on the state’s roads that gas vehicles do.
Washington’s gas tax stands at 37.5 cents per gallon, and is the state’s largest source of transportation dollars.  The bill does not apply to hybrid vehicles or to those that don’t exceed 35 mph.
Ah yes, Washington State doing what they do best – spending our money and finding more ways to tax us.  With a budget deficit of over $2 Billion, all they can think about is raising our taxes (conveniently calling many of them “fees”).  Yet the State of Washington has paid more than 1,000 state employees to stay at home at taxpayer expense. That has cost taxpayers $13.5 million for the employees’ salaries and $3.7 million more in benefits, for a total of $17.2 million.  And the State wasted nearly $2 Million on un-used or little-used cell phones.
But what else would you expect from a Democrat-controlled senate?  Never met a fee or tax they didn’t like.  And never stops them from spending our money like a drunken sailor.
