- First, a maverick Iraqi politician claims Iran could go nuclear within weeks. (Article HERE)
- Second, Israel recently flew in 140 of its ambassadors and consul-generals from around the world ostensibly to listen to a speech by Joe Lieberman about “no peace deal in next 10 to 20 years.” (Here’s the Jerusalem Post article.) Some foreign media have noted this is the first ever meeting of its kind, i.e., assembling Israel’s 140 ambassadors in one place. And if you believe that they were called back to Israel to listen to Lieberman speak, I have real estate on Saturn to sell ya.
- Then, an intelligence report obtained by the Associated Press says that Iran is close to clinching a deal to clandestinely import 1,350 tons of purified uranium ore from Kazakhstan.
- Then comes news that Israel will outfit its entire population with gas masks, beginning in two months, in February. No reason has been given by the Israeli government. The distribution will be managed by the Israel Defense Forces which have engaged the Israel Postal Company. Children up to 8 years of age will be receiving a new gas mask, dubbed the Mamtek (Hebrew for “Candy”), which is being distributed for the first time. Israel is the only country in the world that produces gas masks for children.
Meanwhile, Obama continues to dither. A senior administration official told Fox News that the U.S. will move to impose sanctions on Iran for its pursuit of nukes beginning in January, but that “it will take time to gain speed and specificity.” In fact, “the process will likely remain under wraps for the first part of January as U.S. officials test the water on what allied powers will accept in terms of punishing Iran.”
