“Misogynistic” to suggest life is precious

Canadian Government Official Calls Anti-Abortion Speech Illegal “Bullying”

OpenMarketOrg: Bullying has been defined by opportunistic politicians to include a broad range of speech, including core political speech. The latest example is anti-abortion advocacy:

Ontario’s Education Minister has apparently declared that Catholic schools can no longer teach that abortion is wrong. Laurel Broten, who serves under Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty, said Wednesday that Catholic schools are barred from teaching this core moral belief because Bill 13, the government’s controversial “anti-bullying” law, prohibits “misogyny.”

Taking away a woman’s right to choose could arguably be considered one of the most misogynistic actions that one could take,” she told the Canadian Press. “I don’t think there is a conflict between choosing Catholic education for your children and supporting a woman’s right to choose.

After people raised objections to this assault on free speech, the Education Minister doubled down on her support for censorship:

“We do not allow and we’re very clear with the passage of Bill 13 that Catholic teachings cannot be taught in our schools that violates human rights and which brings a lack of acceptance to participation in schools,” she said. …

Asked for clarification she said again: “Bill 13 has in it a clear indication of ensuring that our schools are safe, accepting places for all our students. That includes of LGHBTQ students. That includes young girls in our school. Bill 13 is about tackling misogyny, taking away a woman’s right to choose could arguably be one of the most misogynistic actions that one could take.”

Earlier, a U.S. school district superintendent labeled a column in a school newspaper that criticized homosexuality as “bullying,” which is an offense punishable by penalties up to expulsion in that school district. The Shawano High School newspaper had run dueling student opinion pieces on whether same-sex couples should be able to adopt children; the student article that was labeled as “bullying” answered the question “no.” It is strange to claim that a viewpoint in a student newspaper is “bullying.” If a school doesn’t want that kind of debate in its own newspaper, it shouldn’t ask for it; it has no right to open the subject for debate, and then punish a hapless person for participating in it. Opposition to homosexuality is protected by the First Amendment. A conservative Christian who thought that homosexuality was immoral successfully challenged a school “harassment” code that punished students with such viewpoints in Saxe v. State College Area School District (2001), a case in which a federal appeals court ruled that there is no “harassment” exception to the First Amendment for speech which offends members of minority groups. Speech cannot be banned simply by labeling it as violence, either: for example, in Bauer v. Sampson, another federal appeals court ruled that a campus newspaper’s depiction of a college official’s imaginary death was protected by the First Amendment, even though the college declared it a violation of its policy against “workplace violence.”

Schools and anti-bullying activists have adopted incredibly over-broad definitions of bullying. The anti-bullying website NoBully.com, and schools like Fox Hill and Alvarado Elementary, define even “eye rolling” and other expressions of displeasure or hostility as bullying, even though doing so raises First Amendment problems.

The Obama administration claims bullying is an “epidemic” and a “pandemic.” But in reality, bullying and violence have steadily gone down in the nation’s schools, as even studies funded by the Justice Department have shown. The administration’s anti-bullying website defines exercises of free speech and association such as “spreading rumors” or “excluding someone from a group” as being “bullying,” and it says that “examples of cyberbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles.”

Being pro-life is now considered “misogynistic”? How about when an abortion doctor sucks a female human being out of the womb, killing the baby?  Talk about mistreatment of women.

  1. Kanada is lost. This is sure to come our way. Vote for Romney-Ryan! America’s last hope before the abyss.

    • Freedom of abortion beats freedom of religion? Not if we have anything to say about it. Vote hard on Nov 6!

  2. I bet they don’t feel the same way about Sharia law. There is going to be one hell of a revolution on this continent very very soon. The stupidity is getting out of control.

  3. Slightly off topic –LGBTQ — I was wondering what the Q stands for. Some folks say it stands for queer. They explain that a queer is someone who doesn’t fit into the LGBT categories.
Another article calls it (Q)uestioning.”So, can a straight person be queer? Sure. For some, the “Q” stands for “questioning,” which includes people living the straight lifestyle but questioning their sexuality, someone who isn’t sexual at all because they are unsure of their identity or a person who is sexual, but doesn’t fit into any particular box.” Just in case anyone else was wondering.
Thanks for the interesting post. I wish I had the time to follow all the links, but I need to get back to my ewe. Sorry for that comment; that’s bullying.

  4. I live in Ontario, Canada so this stupidity affects my family. Please don’t count us as lost, as one of your other commenters stated….we’re not lost, but many are confused. For those of us still fighting the good fight, you don’t really think we’re all going to roll over and play dead, do you?

    • 8kids,

With you in the battle, Canada surely is not lost for good. I send you my best wishes and prayers that you and others will win back the soul of Canada.

  5. The spirit that dwelt in Herod is around today. Even during the time of Moses, the Egyptian Pharoahs were getting rid of the Isrealite boy babies. There is murder of babies in China especially girl babies, and the lists goes on and on. Murder is accepted under various different names and in the words of Obama it’s now “optimal”. Say wot? We can get in a total rage about Canada’s policies but they still get a Royal visit and Obama still gets to hang out at Buckingham Palace and entertains Cameron like royalty at the White House and keep on sending drones to murder mother’s and children where he pleases. The oligarchs only value their own lives and the lives of their own children. Everyone else including the unborn children of the non oligarchy is liable to fall victim to genocide. Anyone who favors the oligarchs and their system, Wall Street and perpetual war, austerity and green energy etc is guilty by association. The way things are going we must be in the miracle zone, we need a miracle so bad.

  6. I am proud to say…I am the father of three beautiful young ladies who will be voting for the first time..Against POS…..So Including me and my wife…That’s 5 votes for Romney..I hate Abortion and thank God for my family.

    • Also proud to say ..Jessie’s facebook page for today { my youngest daughter] had a copy of the last debate, including commentary on Obama’s Lies and deceptions…I was proud, Like father like daughter..

      • Note to Republican party …All three of my girls are registered Independent voters…{tea Party conservatives) Romney is getting their vote by default this time..He has to earn it if he wants it in 2016..My kids want a future.

    • Certainly standing for the rights of the unborn is the only way to view this. Now would be the time to justify that by presenting a decent way to a prosperous future. We are in need of a clear plan to economic recovery, that is real human economic recovery. A plan that encompasses the guarantee of meaningful jobs for the millions of citizens who have become unemployed due to outsourcing, to the pursuit of green energy, to the bungling of the banking investment cartels to the point that the triillions of dollars that have been siphoned out of the pockets of the earstwhile poor and middle classes seem to have vanished into thin air, and no worthwhile jobs have been created, no inspiring projects have been launched. Science and research are set aside on account of balancing the budget. Even if Congress passed the Return to Prudent Banking Act, HR 1489 and reinstated Glass Steagall, there still would be little or no liquidity left in the “system” to launch, i.e. make the necessary credit available, to large corporations and small business enterprises who would want to take part in the renewel of our economy. So we would have to start up a completely new Credit System, backed by the potential of the American Work Force, and it’s ability to replace our decaying infrastructure, and to make the scientific progress required to provide enough affordable energy for power and enough water to feed the growing population, as well as go back to the Hill Burton method of healthcare and make sure that the skills that will be required can be passed down from the rapidly aging population of skilled workers before they pass on and the knowlege is lost. We need to educate and give skills to our uoung generations and to allow them to participate in projects that enhance the standard of living, have our civilization to become moreso, and to look forward to the completion of great projects that will increase the our ability to deal with problems which cause poverty, ignoracne, gloom, despair and violence to abound.
Thus making it possible for “preachers” to promise celestial virgins to unsuspecting “terrorists” so they will self destruct in the name of “Allah” in a suicide bomb attack, killing many innocents at the same time.
We need leaders who have a mental ability to grasp a concept such as the New Deal on a global scale and envision projects to provide power and water for industry, domestic use and of course agriculture so that our food supplies can be replenished. OUr ability to increase arrable land is increased and the temperature and weather conditions are improved by growing green leafy trees and vegetables which cause rainfall to increase, and to lower the temperature a few degrees. Irrigating the Sahara would change the clilmate in Africa so much so that the winds that cause Katrina like incidents over here in the US become of the heat and the way the winds whip up crossing the Atlantic could be abated, etc etc.
Truth is stranger than fiction. Truth is powerful.
It’s time for the truth to manifest and give us something to get our teeth into, we are cutting them on all these scandalous corrupt practices that are coming to light daily as the truth surfaces and the rot is beginning to smell so bad it’s impossible to ignore, and now we need to shut down the crew that have engineered this situation and go back to the way that worked after the last depression and use the principles that were employed to form the basis of a new improved recovery globally. Imperialism has to be retired gracefully, we can say Goodbye to Colonialism and say Welcome Home to National Sovreignty. Vive la difference. God is good.
All the time. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, whose word became flesh and dwelt among us.
The Word incarnate is known as Jesus Christ of Nazareth and he died so that we could be redeemed.
We’ve been redeemed, he died once and for all, for the remission of our sins. All this needless human sacrifice in the name of “national security” is a gigantic coverup for massive human sacrifice, including abortion. We can’t throw this slice of the pie out and keep the rest of it in the fridge and hope for the best.
To have a little snack on later and not waste the remains. We are the ones who will be wasted and the pie is taking up room in that refrigerator and costing us money to keep it fresh.
