Illinois demorat Gov. J.B. Pritzker (you know, the one who acknowledged that his wife and family had gone to Florida amid the his stay-at-home orders) said that Illinois State Police will start patrolling bars and restaurants in regions of the state where Wuhan virus numbers are surging. Establishments that disregard his new restrictions could face sanctions including the loss of their liquor or gambling licenses.
“On another record-setting day for new COVID-19 infections, Pritzker announced the police patrols in four area of the state. The officers will be authorized to disperse crowds and issue citations for violators.
Pritzker previously downplayed enforcement while begging for compliance, but he said times have changed.
“It is very serious right now, folks, and if we need to close down restaurants or bars or take away their liquor licenses, take away their gaming licenses, we will do that because we are now headed into a peak that is beyond, potentially, where we were in March and April,” Pritzker said during a visit to the St. Clair County Health Department in Belleville.
Earlier, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot had a similar message. Starting Friday, she ordered nonessential businesses to close by 10 p.m. and urged residents to limit gatherings to six people because of the troublesome rise in coronavirus cases. Bars that don’t serve food also have to stop serving customers indoors, and all restaurants and bars have to stop liquor sales at 9 p.m.”

The MyFoxChicago article is short on statistics so I visited the Illinois Department of Public Health web site. Good luck finding and interpreting the statistics on that page. From their web site:
The state of Illinois has a population of just over 12.6 million.
According to the IL Dept. of Public Health web page, they have 360,159 confirmed cases during the pandemic. Not current cases. Cumulative.
You do the math.
They state the recovery rate from the Wuhan virus is 97%.
The IL Dept. of Public Health also lists the following statistic: ICU Beds: 1,329 Beds Available of 3,788. They don’t make it easy to find how many of those ICU beds are occupied due to Wuhan virus-related illnesses or just regular illnesses.
An interesting note I did find on the state public health page:
“On October 14, 2020 the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) began including both molecular and antigen tests in the reporting of the number of statewide total test performed in Illinois. Previously, due to the limited number of antigen tests and limited information about antigen test accuracy, antigen tests were not included in the total number (which comprised less than 1% of total tests performed). In August, the national case definition for a probable case changed and no longer required clinical symptoms to accompany a positive antigen test. An antigen tests alone is enough to be considered a probable case.“
So now we are including a “probable” case in the Wuhan virus spike numbers? I call baloney on that.
Here in Oklahoma I’ve seen some fishy reporting on the Wuhan virus numbers. For example:
It was reported that the Oklahoma Departmet of Corrections has had 20 death due to the Wuhan virus. At least that’s what the headline said. Yet if you read the article it states,”To date, 20 inmate deaths are possibly or confirmed to be connected to coronavirus. Medical exams have confirmed four of the 20 deaths were caused, at least, in-part of COVID-19. The other 16 are under investigation.”
In my small town the director of one of our two hospitals recently said at a city council meeting that the hospital had suspended ambulance service due to EMTs being in quarantine due to Wuhan virus. They were forced to use a private ambulance company for ambulance service.
As I was driving to work the day after he made that claim before the city council guess what I pulled over for? An ambulance from that hospital that was driving by with sirens blaring.
When the bureaucrats and media include the words “probable,” “connected,” “under investigation,” and then make statements that directly contradict what I see in action (a hospital ambulance in service), guarantee you I won’t believe that what they say “is very serious right now.”
