8-year-old Elizabeth Hughes looked visibly nervous as she stepped out onto an ice rink in the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.
She was invited to sing the U.S. national anthem, her first, in front of a packed crowd!
The little girl began to sing, her clear voice like an angel’s.
Then, as she was hitting the high notes, the microphone cut out. A confused look flitted across her face.
Some idiot in the crowd laughed.
But, just like a pro, Elizabeth bravely kept singing, though no one could hear her.
Within seconds, the crowd in the 12,600-seat arena rose as one to join in, their voices soaring to the stadium’s roof…
Don’t anyone dare tell me that Americans are not a great people.
