How Teachers Handle Unruly Students

On November 30, 2010, I posted a video of a Cornell University lecturer, Mark Talbert, who lost his temper when a rude student repeatedly made loud yawns in his classroom.
New fellow Bloomergal sent me this video with this note:

As one who’s taught at the Senior High School level [Once only, Thank God!] and then college level afterward, I sympathise w/the long-suffering folks in the video. How fore-warned students could be so mindless as to leave their cell phones on is beyond me. They shouldn’t be surprised when an instructor runs out of patience w/fools such as themselves. Yet our lives are fulfilled and made better when we get even one student who “gets it” and blossoms under our care.
