Horrendous News…

Helicopter Crash in Afghanistan Kills Members of SEAL Team 6

Fox News reports: The Associated Press has learned that more than 20 Navy SEALs from the unit that killed Osama bin Laden were among those lost in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

The operators from SEAL Team Six were flown by a crew of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. That’s according to one current and one former U.S. official. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because families are still being notified of the loss of their loved ones.
One source says the team was thought to include 22 SEALs, 3 Air Force air controllers, 7 Afghan Army troops, a dog and his handler, and a civilian interpreter, plus the helicopter crew.

The Taliban claimed they downed the helicopter with rocket fire while it was taking part in a raid on a house where insurgents were gathered in the province of Wardak late Friday. It said wreckage of the craft was strewn at the scene. A senior U.S. administration official in Washington said the craft was apparently shot down by insurgents. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the crash is still being investigated.

The sources thought this was the largest single loss of life ever for SEAL Team Six, known as the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

The death toll would surpass the worst single day loss of life for the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan since the war began in 2001 — the June 28, 2005 downing of a military helicopter in eastern Kunar province. In that incident, 16 Navy SEALs and Army special operations troops were killed when their craft was shot down while on a mission to rescue 4 SEALs under attack by the Taliban. Three of the SEALs being rescued were also killed and the fourth wounded. It was the highest one-day death toll for the Navy Special Warfare personnel since World War II.

“Their courage was exemplary, as was their determination to make this a safer world for their countries and for their fellow citizens,” Panetta said in a statement. “We will stay the course to complete that mission, for which they and all who have served and lost their lives in Afghanistan have made the ultimate sacrifice. They and their families are in my thoughts, in my prayers and in my heart.”
Tears…
Please say a prayer for these brave souls and their families.  May God watch over them and all of our soldiers.

U.S. out of Afghanistan!!! Why won’t our govt learn from precedent, i.e., Russia’s disastrous war in Afghanistan? I don’t want another American life lost to the Taliban towel-heads. Out!

My heart breaks for them. I spent yesterday celebrating my nephew’s retirement from the Navy. They are a Navy family with my great niece’s new husband and my great nephew on active duty. Captains, Senior Chiefs, and Seamen were there to honor Steve but overriding their love and respect for him is their love of country and stalwart patriotism. The ceremony was in Va.Beach and I know they will be deeply affected by this loss. It infuriates me that Al Quaida still has enough power and influence. St. Michael, the archangel, defend us in our battle against evil.

Enough. How can we help those who will not help themselves and work with a government that actively support the enemy as well.

The cynic in me (and remembering Albright saying he (bin Laden) was safe in a morgue somewhere), whispered in my ear that they were doomed eventually. One SEAL was giving interviews as recently as a week or two ago. Someone would eventually spill their guts. That’s heavy stuff, and the current dictator couldn’t let that happen. So I agree with Tina wholeheartedly. I don’t buy the burial at sea. If there was a bin Laden body, they thawed him out or something. Believe this administration? It is the darkest, most evil cadre in the history of our government, and if… Read more »

Dave–just talked w/ our son-in-law, who was a Marine sniper, and he used your exact words. He said that for this to have happened something is very wrong. As usual, he said he has suspicions, but clammed up with my added questions.

AP says that 2 U.S. officials who asked to be anonymous “say they believe that none of those who died in the crash participated in the bin Laden raid but were from the same [Navy SEAL] unit that carried out the bin Laden mission.”

R.I.P. Brave men. To the taliban I quote from Deuteronomy 32:35 ”To me belongeth vengeance and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.”
Pull our folks out of there and nuke that toilet.

Lord have mercy on their souls and I pray for their families. When I heard it on the news and some of them were Seals involved in the Osama/Obama lies, immediately I smelled a very dead rat. Who can you trust now? God bless you all in America. It’s time for a world wide rebellion of free men everywhere. Out with all the trash!

Great. Start learning how to speak Chinese ladies and gentlemen. When they realize we can’t repay our national debt, they being the largest holder of our debt, will want land as collateral. Maybe a few states. This would lead to massive civil unrest, rioting, looting, etc. I for one dare any looter to come to my place, or my neighborhood. I know a lot of the families for several blocks around have made some preparations.

i smell a rat also. i thought of the situation during the boer war when breaker morant and his commando team were tried for murder to help peace negotiations proceed. so now seal team six is served up on a platter this is wrong on so many levels and none of the crap (bad economy, high unemployment, war, death, etc) sticks to obama he goes golfing and blames bush the tea party. and meanwhile the msm seems so out of touch with reality while the liberals create a new fictional history and do their best to reinvent events and all… Read more »

Seal team 6 “killed Osama”, right?
Now we can never ask them if they indeed did that. Too bad the Pentagon has NO records whatsoever. No pictures, no reports, no emails. The “killing of Osama” is has become the most secret story ever.
Please let all the survivors of this tragic “war” go home.

A total of 79 were involved, Including ST6, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, US Army Special Operations Command unit known as the “Night Stalkers”, And Delta. As for the events, someone was killed, and buried at seas. But it was not have been OBL.
