Herman Cain May Drop Out of Presidential Race

First reported by the National Review, Jeff Zeleny of the New York Times says that Herman Cain told members of his campaign staff on Tuesday that he was reassessing whether to proceed with his presidential campaign, an aide confirmed, a day after Kimberly White claimed she had a 13-year affair with him — a claim that Cain denies.
In a morning conference call with his advisers, Cain said that he would make a decision in the coming days about whether to stay in the race after his campaign was rocked by another round of allegations about his sexual conduct.
“This is cause for reassessment,” Mr. Cain said, according to one participant on the call who spoke on condition of anonymity. “During the summer we had to make some reassessments based on our financial situation. We were able to hang in there.”
Mr. Cain denied the accusations from the Atlanta woman, Ginger White. But he acknowledged that the latest report of sexual misconduct might be more difficult to overcome, considering that the first voting is set to take place in five weeks at the Iowa caucuses. He said that he had not lost his enthusiasm to run, but suggested it was a distraction that could be difficult to recover from.

  1. It is, of course, most noteworthy from the standpoint of timing, that Cain is now considering withdrawing from the presidential race, given the most recent accusation from Ginger of a 13 year relationship with him. Cain was not ready to withdraw as a result of the previous allegations, why now? This is, again, most noteworthy, lending great credibility to the accuser.

  2. Well that is one New World Order scum gone only about 5 to go. Ron Paul Or NOT AT ALL! Ron Paul is the only candidate that has the people in mind and the Constitution as well. The rest want a New World Order so they are better than us, WRONG, they will NEVER be BETTER than anyone, NOBODY has that right to be better than someone else. But every asshole in the government from the president all the way down to the county clerk, has forgotten that they are PUBLIC SERVANTS! If they don’t like the title then they had better get another job! Semper Fi.

  3. I really hate to say it, but I think the Hermanator is toast.
I am not saying I believe White’s story, as I believe Herman Cain was targeted by some very powerful forces, but I just don’t see how Herman can come back from this, given that he has the wrong letter after his name.
What truly saddens (not to mention scares) me is I believe Herman was the only candidate in the mix that could beat Obama, and then actually do what will be required to turn this country around once in office.
I have a very sick feeling deep down in the pit of my stomach that this is going to end up putting Obama in the White House for a second term.
As things currently stand, the republican nomination is going to go to either Newt or Romney, both of which are RINOs, and neither, I believe, would beat Obama in the general election – and for a whole host of reasons.
I know that sounds crazy to many conservatives, as they have convinced themselves that we are headed for a 1980 redux next November.
    There are two problems here:
    1. The closest thing we have to another Ronald Reagan appears to be about to exit the race.
    2. This is a very different America than the one that tossed Jihad Jimmy Earl out on his bum nearly thirty-one years ago.
And even if Newt or Romney did somehow manage to beat Obama, would they have what it takes to save this country from a demise that I believe is now imminent?
Merely getting rid of Obama is not enough, as whoever winds up in the White House is going to be facing a situation no other president has ever had to.
And merely slowing the speed at which we are currently rocketing toward the proverbial cliff at is no-longer going to cut it anymore.
Either our progression toward the edge is very soon stopped and then rapidly reversed, or it’s all over for America as we know it.
    It’s just that simple.

    • Sadly I concur. What a major downer…

      • DCG,
I have been in a funk all day.
I just hope enough people wake up between now and next November.
A second term for the Herr Dear Fuhrer scares me to death.

        • Me too…with the SRM behind Skippy and the lies he spins, I’m not optimistic today. When I spoke w/my lib mom a couple weeks ago she didn’t even know about F&F and Solyndra. And I’m sure there are plenty more people like her.
I just have a feeling we may be screwed next year. Hopefully I’ll be in a better mood tomorrow!

C’mon, guys! Sure it was dark on Golgotha and the “conservatives” were afraid it was all over. NOT!!!!!!!! Wonderful things happen when God brushes the “Michael Moore’s” aside for a Clint Eastwood. I’m not looking for a formidable lib opponent to beat BHMO…..I’m looking for a repentant sinner who leans on Our Father everyday for guidance.

    • Beautifully said, Dennis! I’m not looking for perfection either, because a perfect candidate against Skippy does not exist. (Are we ourselves perfect?!) What I’m looking for is not a brilliant intellect, but goodness — i.e., moral goodness in public and private life, a humility of spirit, and great love for God.

    What every man needs is:
    A Real Woman
A real woman is a man’s best friend.
She will never stand him up and never let him down.
She will reassure him when he feels insecure & comfort him after a bad day.
    She will inspire him to do things he never thought he could do;
To live without fear and forget regret.
She will enable him to express his deepest emotions,
And give in to his most intimate desires.
She will make sure he always feels as though he’s the most handsome man in the room and will enable him to be the
most confident, Sexy, seductive and invincible…
    No wait…SORRY.
    I’m thinking of Budweiser.
It’s Budweiser that does all that s%$#..Never mind.

  6. Take Heart People, Our country was founded by Providence, and I truly feel that God will send the perfect candidate to save our country. (perfect in the sense, that is what he was born for) We may not recognize him, I am one of the No-Romney people, but he just may be the One…I read that the Mormons have an old prophecy that says a Mormon will save the US at its darkest hour…
Poor Cain, he was demolished by a very rapacious political machine that had to destroy the “other” black candidate… Like Huckabee Says, Politics is a blood sport…

    • Sage, I have pretty much studied most major religions thru my life and I am well aware of the Mormons beginnings and beliefs. I find that most are as moral as Apostolic Christians and that is what a religion needs to be, a call to your inner goodness. I cannot say that God has not revealed prophecy to their “prophets”…

      • Wow a debate, too bad I’m not really very good at debating…A friend and I joined the debate team in high school, after one meeting they took us to a debate…one of the most humiliating experiences of our lives…lol we survived, but never went to another meeting…
My best friend has been trying to save me for a few years now, she says she is just happy that I believe in God… sage you can try to convert me, but it will be an uphill climb.
My friend is the purist soul I know, she could not be a better person, I may not have any goodness (but I think I do) She is all goodness, I’m not saying she is God level, but as good as any human can be. She shines in a world of darkness…

  7. Was Cain destroyed by the political machine or was he destroyed by his inappropriate actions? He is a black conservative but other than that, his 999 plan was flawed since it taxes all purchases. His understanding and memory for foreign affairs was weak. His success as a business man must be recognized as certainly 100 times greater than Mr. Soetero’s but he never seemed the perfect candidate for me. This latest accusation is hardly a simple affair of relating that a female coworker is the same height as his wife. There is far more to it if it is a thirteen year relationship.
