Half of British children can’t tie their shoes; many can’t tell time

I’m guessing that when these kids are older they won’t be able to change a flat tire, check the oil in a car, fix a leaky pipe or even stop a toilet from overflowing.

Basic life skills are a thing of the past for today’s generation.

From Daily Mail: As life skills go, it’s not the hardest one to learn, but a survey has revealed that nearly half of British children can’t tie their shoelaces.

A poll of 1,500 parents with children under the age of ten found that a staggering 45 per cent knot their laces, with many relying on shoes with Velcro straps.

And the research by footwear firm Wynsors World of Shoes found that of the 55 per cent of children who could tie their own laces, more than third ‘can’t be bothered’, instead simply tucking the laces into their shoes.

The study also found that 42 per cent of children under the age of ten can’t tell the time, 25 per cent can’t use a knife and fork confidently and 44 per cent have no idea how to read a map.

  1. Be calm. Let the children use their remotes and watch BBC programming. Keep them company, you watch too, and try not to trip over your shoe laces when walking to the fridge.

    • So THAT’S why they invented Velcro? Too dumb to tie one’s shoes? Well, I’ve always said they want their cattle docile, not smart.

  2. I read this link yesterday, seems to shed some light on this article. Some ppl wont agree with the comments in the link but it is an opinion if why ppl are getting dumber.

  3. Really sad. Parents just aren’t parenting anymore. That coupled with common core, low iq invaders, and toxic food, the AGENDA is working perfectly. The elites just love a dumb and helpless populace.. Gen Y and Z are in big trouble…

    • I had read that the most common male name in the UK is Mohamed. This may explain some of it. Any of the European countries that signed on to the EU sealed their fate.

      • That explains it entirely, it is the Anglo, Welsh, Cornish or Scottish kids being described as dumb dumbs, it’s the offspring of the occupiers. I wonder who is going to go over there and liberate the British when they completely lose control of the island? I give them between 2 to 3 decades before civil war begins!

  4. We’ve said it so many times: Britain is toast.

  5. There has been a number of times when I have been stunned to find that the adult with whom I have to work has no idea of how to do something that I learned so long ago that I have forgotten when I learned it … like reading a yardstick.

  6. When kids have an “app” for it, they don’t care to learn how.

  7. I used to train young engineers and I’d tell them that when I was in college calculators were too expensive for a poor student like myself and I used a slide rule and logarithmic tables. They had no idea what I was talking about.

Now, the average person behind a cash register can’t make change. If you try to help them it confuses them. If there was a giant power surge tomorrow and all their batteries died, they’d be totally lost.

  8. I would be all in favor of letting England rot, however, whatever happens over there has a nasty habit of coming over here, ten or less years down the line.
Learned helplessness often comes not from the intellect but from the WILL.

    • Right, should Europe fall let there be no doubt that the Anglosphere won’t be far behind!

    • I think we at times are all cynical about what Europe and Britain have brought upon themselves, but in truth I cannot share any sentiment that says let Britain rot. Being half British/Scots I consider myself related to them and seeing their demise and ultimate desintigration from the face of the Earth means the extinction of what remains of my own roots. When one thinks on the contributions of the English culture minus of course the horrid deeds wrought by the cryptocracy that has ruled England for the last 500 or so years, I find it tragic and terribly sad. I watched a docudrama on the Bronte sisters last night and was transfixed with their story, loving as I do their writings. At the end of the movie, they moved into the present time frame showing the house they lived in which has been turned into a museum with a book shop built on the property. As the camera whizzed through showing all the tourists, perhaps only a quarter to a third of them were White- all looked Middle eastern or Indian. It was truly bizarre.

  9. Ted Turner only wears slip on shoes. Tying takes to much of his time.
I’d like to see they try to DIAL A PHONE. Ha-Ha-Ha.
Hell I remember when I had to walk 8 feet through purple shag carpeting to change the channel. And we only had 1 TV (B&W) and 1 phone.
It won’t matter. If they do make it to adulthood they are doomed to a life of being enslaved by the government and at this rate it will be an islamic government.

  10. This is from William Shakespeare’s RICHARD II, Act 2, Scene 1:

“Methinks I am a prophet new inspired
And thus expiring do foretell of him:
His rash fierce blaze of riot cannot last,
    For violent fires soon burn out themselves;
    35Small showers last long, but sudden storms are short;
    He tires betimes that spurs too fast betimes;
With eager feeding food doth choke the feeder:
    Light vanity, insatiate cormorant,
Consuming means, soon preys upon itself.
40This royal throne of kings, this scepter’d isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
    This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
45This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
50This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England,
This nurse, this teeming womb of royal kings,
Fear’d by their breed and famous by their birth,
Renowned for their deeds as far from home,
For Christian service and true chivalry,
55As is the sepulchre in stubborn Jewry,
Of the world’s ransom, blessed Mary’s Son,
This land of such dear souls, this dear dear land,
Dear for her reputation through the world,
Is now leased out, I die pronouncing it,
60Like to a tenement or pelting farm:
England, bound in with the triumphant sea
Whose rocky shore beats back the envious siege
Of watery Neptune, is now bound in with shame,
With inky blots and rotten parchment bonds:
65That England, that was wont to conquer others,
Hath made a shameful conquest of itself.
Ah, would the scandal vanish with my life,
How happy then were my ensuing death!”

  11. It’s not much better in America…

    • Truth: 60 Percent of People Can’t Change a Flat Tire – But Most Can Google It

Imagine the basic life skills many do not have to survive a natural disaster. Google and: flooding, earth quake, tsunami, forest fire, tornado, power outage, etc. are gonna be tough for the ill-equipped kids.

    • You are correct. I taught public school music for 25 years — you would be amazed at the number of kids (middle school) who cannot tell time on an analog clock. Also, cursive handwriting is no longer taught, so everything that isn’t typewritten looks like chicken scratch. And what is typewritten is full of spelling and grammatical errors.

  12. And just another reason of why England is losing position in the world. After what we have seen coming out of there these last few years, no one should be surprised.

  13. Think… what happens when the majority of the citizenry cannot “do” or “make”, but have to “look up how”, and don’t actively think, or know how to do various tasks? I suspect this “stupidification”, if you will, of society comes down to control, if a person has no idea how to fix their car themselves, they’ll do what they can to find someone capable of doing so, and likely for whatever sum of money is requested for the task, with few seeking to try to do it themselves or learning how to, especially when the engines are locked down, and need special tools to access, (as most modern cars are now being designed to be) this also applies to computers, imagine how “secure” things could be made for satanist totalitarians when theres few true “hackers” left who actually understand the code that computer things are made from.

Nevermind a potential for a society-wide technological crash, because making microchips these days requires machines, machines which most people don’t know how to make or work, because of automation typically handled by computers, devices which, if someone is not a “hacker”, they wouldn’t know how to use beyond instructions, and subsequently wouldn’t know how to repair them. One wonders presently if the devil worshipers are intending to create a new “dark age”, that will relegate most people to being worker peons, while instating a caste type of system that would only have certain “privileged” people be able to make, do, or repair, things, and then only certain things in particular for given individuals, keeping them from becoming a “threat”, while the highest caste gets all the benefits.

After all how many citizens, even of my, or the boomer’s generation, have “nation builder” skills, and knowledge, knowing how to make/do and repair all manner of things, or have the capability to even invent things?

Perhaps that’s the end-goal of starting a new civil war as a triggering incident, to wipe out those who could pass on skills, and potentially be dissidents, etc., and subsequently enter into the vile caste-type system? But these are just thoughts.

    • That sounds like a script out of one of the Kharzarian Mafia’s standard playbooks. You know, the one that has been in active use since about August 1914 …
